About Me

Hey there and thanks for stopping by my profile! I'm just your average internet-happy gal, but I do spend a whole lot of time outside of the cyber world working and just having a fun time.

Let's see... a little background info.....
*&nbsp I was born in New York but only go back once every blue moon
*&nbsp grew up mainly overseas and in Washington state

*&nbsp travel extensively [now that I have the responsibilities of the grown up world, I try to travel someplace new at least once a year, but would love to roam the world in search of adventure on a daily basis]
*&nbsp currently reside in Texas aka: the "hottest dang place on the frickin' planet".
*&nbsp co-own a boutique in Schertz, TX called Two Chic Chicks!! We specialize in wedding & designer apparel for women, all-natural bath & body products, gourmet foods, gifts/collectibles & so much more! If you're getting married or need a formal gown - message me or check out our website! We specialize in finding unique, one-of-a-kind styles so that you look like the star you are!
*&nbsp I love meeting new people and finding new places to explore
*&nbsp I'm a self-taught gourmet cook and I occasionally cater [esp. during the holidays]. Largest party done? A Christmas banquet for 150 people. If you want to exchange recipes, tips, etc.... I'm totally up for that!
*&nbsp I'm a former Army brat. My family did the whole military shebang - move here, move there, move everywhere!! I honestly have no idea what a hometown is. Personally.... anywhere that I have laid my head for more than 48 hours & enjoyed visiting is considered home.
*&nbsp I have the urge to write the wackiest things at all hours of the day. For a while, I satisfied this urge by writing opinion reviews on a site called Epinions
under the name "Ishtarskye" [and I used to get $$$$, unfortunately they've gotten seriously chinzy with the moohlah], but I haven't placed a post there in a bit;
*&nbsp I am a big fan of landscape and nature photography. I haven't mastered the darkroom yet, but I can take a pretty decent photo. Eventually, I'll get around to posting more of my work for all to see Want to know a whole lot more? Drop me a line and we'll chat! I never turn down the chance to make new friends!

My Interests

My boutique that I co-own with my mom, who is also my best friend, is a major interest for me, of course. We have been open since mid-November 2005 and the business end is starting to pick up as more people are realizing that we're totally unique to the area - and that there's more to the name Two Chic Chicks than meets the eye! We just had a really good push from a recent ad campaign, which has helped immensely plus we'll be featured in several more ads, including a listing in Bride's magazine and For the Bride magazine PLUS we're going to be listed in San Antonio Wedding Guide and was one of the fashion show participants at the San Antonio Wedding Guide's Bridal Extravaganza in Sept. 2006. I'm so excited - we'll be hosting our first bridal & special occasion fashion show in September as well!! I also keep busy handling the .. aspect of the business - since we have a website and generate sales from that.
You Belong in Milan
Stylish and sophisticated, you want to enjoy a truly European life - away from tourists!
Milan fits you perfectly. Great shopping, high quality food, lots of culture... with very little hype. What European City Do You Belong In?If you're looking for a special occasion dress, formal gown, or a WEDDING dress - this is the place for you! We are an authorized salon for Demetrios Bridals, plus we just got our contract with Raylia Haute Couture. Check out our listing in For the Bride Magazine! Location's not a problem... we can place orders for gals all over the globe - at an AFFORDABLE price too! In addition to carrying Demetrios's extensive self-titled bridal line, we also carry... tiaras, jewelry & bridal accessories by TigerLilly & En Vogue Accessories one-of-a-kind pageant, Quinceanera & prom dresses from: Scala, Sherri Hill, Demetrios Prom, Demetrios Quinceanera/Cinderella Collection, Demetrios Couture Evenings, Raylia Haute Couture, Raylia Evenings, Bill Levkoff, Interlude Prom, En Vogue Prom, Interlude Couture, & Faviana - coming soon ~ Jovani & Jovani Beyond plus Precious Formals and Glam Gurlz! bridesmaids' dresses by Bill Levkoff, Saison Blache Couture, WTOO/Watters & Watters, Dessy, After Six, Cherished Occasions & Raylia Designs flower girl dresses by Kukla, Raylia, California Bridal, Rosebud Fashions, & WAWA & bridal gowns by Cosmobella, California Bridal, Raylia, Scala - plus many more designers! NEW this season: Modest, LDS-approved bridal and formal wear by EternityWe are constantly adding to our stock! We also carry several lines by emerging designers, as well as a selection of hand-crocheted scarves by Prima Rosa , plus handmade jewelry, accessories & giftware. If you love to cook - check out our selection of gourmet foods, gift baskets and candies!

Since my boutique is an apparel place, fashion is also an interest of mine. I have a degree in Studio Art, and plan on getting a second Bachelor's in Fashion Merchandising and Design. I own an apparel boutique - I think it's only natural to have some of my own designs in my store, right?

I'm also a big fan of international cuisine, international places, international music..... the list goes on. I do need to clarify that this is not my being anti-American or anything. I grew up overseas, so I'm fond of the things that are familiar. And girls... you have to admit that a guy with an accent is tres hot!Other interests include:
*&nbsp listening to music
*&nbsp Yoga and Pilates [I've discovered YBB "Yoga Booty Ballet", which is very cool]
*&nbsp driving fast with a the stereo going full blast
*&nbsp visiting art galleries, museums or showings
*&nbsp stopping by historical places like Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden, Germany or walking the Grand Canals in Venice, Italy
*&nbsp sitting down to a good book on a rainy day with a cup of tea and some scones
*&nbsp attending regional pow-wows with my family [we're Native Americans, so it's more a traditional reason why we attend than a cliche]

There are a LOT more things that I enjoy, but that's the fun in getting to know someone else - if all were revealed in a single web space, where would be the fun in finding nothing beyond the blog?

Music:

[Jared Leto is totally HOT .... now if he was only in the area!] Music-wise, I'm pretty open to anything that sounds good [except for country, rap, gangsta, hip-hop, street funk, etc.], has a great beat and lyrics that can be sung to or make sense. I'm really not into bands that sound too "Mouseketeerish" or cheesey - I prefer bands that are "meaty", ya know. I'm a fan of Euro-pop groups like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode; love the mainstays like U2 and Madonna; am still stuck in the '80's with groups like A-ha, Billy Idol, the Beastie Boys and Devo; calm down with muses like Sarah McLachlan, Dido or Sade; rock with the best of them with Rammstein, Disturbed, korn, or Gorillaz; and can drive fast or dance with Enigma, Paul Oakenfeld, and many others.

One good electronica person to listen to is fellow Myspace member "Dyne" - I love his song called Movement! http://www.myspace.com/dyne

Television:

I kind of stopped watching tv after "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" went off the air! Seriously, there really isn't that much on that's not a reality show of some type and once you've seen one of those, you've pretty much seen them all. I do like the Food Network, "What Not to Wear", "Battlestar Galatica" "The 4400", "The Dead Zone", "Monk" "Law & Order" [the original, Criminal Intent and SVU], "America's Next Top Model", and "Stargate SG:1". That's about it for tv.

Books:

*&nbsp Laurell K. Hamilton
*&nbsp Edgar Allen Poe
*&nbsp James Patterson
*&nbsp Bram Stoker
*&nbsp books that deal with Native American history or myths
*&nbsp Hans Christian Anderson
*&nbsp Margaret Mitchell
*&nbsp anything to do with World War II history or the Holocaust
*&nbsp the classics
*&nbsp ancient Greek & Roman myths, epics & legends
*&nbsp basically... anything with a good plot that will hold my attention until the very end of the book will suffice. I'll read the backs of cereal boxes if it's done well enough.

Heroes:

Jesus and my parents are my biggest heroes. Jesus gave up His life for the entire world and my parents would give up their lives for my siblings and I. How can I not admire those willing to do self sacrifice for the good of others?

I also admire anyone who has ever served in the military, law enforcement, the fire department or any branch of national service because they constantly put their lives on the line every day without a single thought and hardly get any sort of thanks for their efforts.

Other heroes include [in no particular order]: Batman, Wonder Woman, Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, Bono, all those positively involved in or affected directly by 9/11, people who go out of their way for others, guys who still open doors for women as they walk in or out of a building;

oh..... and whoever rids the world of terrorists [especially Osama bin Laden] deserves all the respect in the world
