****************************As the HYPHY Movement strongly becomes the logo for Bay Area music today, some artists have stray away from the native, newly found "Go Dumb" way of music and life style. 21-year-old Mac FLYY also known as M. FLIZZI, who has never seen land outside the Northern California region, was raised in one of the most dangerous cities in the Bay, San Francisco. Housed in the Hunter's Point neighborhood, M. FLIZZI grew up playing in the parking lots of Sunnydale housing projects, the rival district. Surrounded by gang warfare, everyday violence, and death. The young M. FLIZZI managed to dodge the "beef" between areas, while being respected and known in not only both hoods but in all of San Francisco.
In the mid 90’s M. FLIZZI grew fond of hip-hop with the help of artists like Tupac Shukar and the Notorious B.I.G. He quickly grasped hold to the popular hip-hop way of life and begin to create lyrics of his own.
After the deaths of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G a new sound caught the attention of the young rapper. M. FLIZZI began to listen to a lot of southern rap, which at the time was becoming real popular. He was quite enthused by the South's slang and lifestyle. He took huge interest in Cashmoney Record's Lil' Wayne, taking likes in his technique, craft, and cocky attitude.
M. FLIZZI gives southern music credit for his unique MC style. Some might say his style is the most distinctive form in Bay Area rap today, aside from the sounds of artist such as E-40 and Keak da Sneak. His lyrics are crafty, witty, clever, and smooth. From his stylish look to his slick talking, MACK like grammar, he gives you the sense that he might be a bit conceited. Dudes persona all around represents "FLYY." His southern sound mixed with his Bay Area slang captures listeners’ attention at first word. Responsible for the drum patterns’ he’s rocked over, Sin and Merk of Poproxx Productions and DJ Kuddy Roc of Axis Knoxx help establish his distinctive sound. The alienated non-HYPHY artist, M. FLIZZI has a movement of his own something he and cousin, Slim calls "FLYY Pimpin." The state of being FLYY with two Y's.
