Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.

About Me

I like quirky, eccentric, interesting people. Over-confident people make me defensive. I cry at music. I cry at films. I cry at the TV. I cry at stories. I cry with pride. I cry too easily. I will never forgive you if you pretend to be someone you're not. I take offense too easily. I'm just beginning to be able to say NO. I'm not shy, but I'm self conscious. I laugh too loud in the cinema. If I'm nervous I WILL laugh, inappropriately. I think I probably embarrass my nieces and nephews, but I don't mean to. I definitely embarrass my daughter, and sometimes I mean to. I really REALLY hate to use the phone. I'm very curious. I like to learn about other cultures, how other people live. I don't like snobs. I LOVE music. I don't like going on holiday, because I don't like sleeping in someone elses bed. I have zero willpower. Getting old is inevitable, but I don't want people to treat me differently. Music is a universal weapon. I love my family. I would kill for my family. I wish I was taller. I regret a few things I've done. I am too impatient. I am very loyal, but if you betray me, I will never forgive you. I am a cat person, not a dog person. I would hate to drown. I love my friends, but I probably wouldn't kill for them. I am a perfectionist. I can be incredibly annoying. I am a good friend. I love to laugh until I can't breathe. I HATE using the phone. The internet is fantastic. I worry too much. I think too much. I feel sorry for ugly animals, because they need love too. I can't ride a bike, swim, roller skate or ice skate. I can't balance. I don't like negative people. I HATE intolerance, rascism. I LOVE technology, I'd love to go to Japan and buy all of their brilliant inventions. I LOVE Christmas. I love breaks from work. I love plants in my garden. I have to be able to listen to music wherever I am. I miss my Dad. I love it when I hear new music, and it really gets to me. Im scared of people who take hard drugs. I really detest poseurs. I admire people who are able to be themselves, so few people manage it..I may not like you, but I admire you. I like people to be sensitive to other people, to listen to people and to take what they say in. I'm a bit of an old hippy.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I would have been honoured to have met this man.Love a chat with these 3 also...

Music:

I'm pretty open minded. If you put your heart and soul into your music, then I'll give you a fair hearing then make up my mind as to whether it's for me or not.Music has always been important in my life, not necessarily in the foreground all the ime, but it's always there, like a backdrop, and I can't imagine my life without having heard some of these voices....Marvin Gave, Prince, The Tubes, Teardrop Explodes, Big Wednesday, Brian Flack, Kate Bush, Wham!, The Cure, Martha Wainwright, Rufus Wainwright, Fiona Apple, The Eels, The Kills, Courtney Love, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Billie Holliday, Mars Volta, RHCP, Ed Harcourt, Linda Strawberry, Tobias Froberg, The Kooks, The Kinks, The Beatles, The Raconteurs, White Stripes, Foo Fighters, The The, Roy Ayers,The Police, Stevie Wonder, The Clash, Joe Strummer, Air, Ambulance Ltd, Morrissey, The Smiths, Ani di Franco, Eykah Badu, Outkast, Regina Spektor, Beck, Ben Harper, Cab Calloway, The Associates, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Everything But The Girl, The Cure, Robert Smith, Camera Obscura, Aztec Camera, Haircut 100, Kyuss, Funkadelic, Parliament, Galaxie 500, Men, Women and Children, Kool and the Gang, Keane, Metallica, Coldplay, QotSA, Level 42, Scritti Politti, Tapes n Tapes, Under the Influence of Giants, Yes, Bread, The Young Knives, Hall & Oates, The Killers......you get the general idea...finally if you make music and I love it, then I thank you for it deeply, it's going to have meant something to me at some point in my life.

Movies:

Old classics really, like, Some Like it Hot, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Bringing Up Baby, that sort of stuff. Busby Berkeley extravaganzas. Anything by Tim Burton. Like classic pairings on-screen - Bogart/Bacall, Tracy/Hepburn, Loy/Powell etc.

Television:

ER, Lost, The Office, Extras, Eastenders, CSI, Rescue Me, Desperate Housewives, Blackadder, Johnathan Ross, Taxi, St Elsewhere, Hillstreet Blues, Never Mind the Buzzcocks.I miss decent music programmes, like The Tube. Jools is about the only one on worth watching.

Books:

Right, let's grab the bull by the horns, so to speak. Reading seems to have gone out of fashion, and that is fucking worrying. Reading is brilliant, it opens your mind, and introduces a different way of thinking. I personally have read too many books to mention, but I really only enjoy Biography/Autobiographies. I LOVE reading about peoples' lives.

Heroes:

My Dad. First single parent I knew! Brought me up alone, from when I was 9. Taught me a lot, not perfect, but good role model, and intelligent, funny bloke.

Contemplating my navel...or something similar

Just thinking about life..how strange it is...a child that I work with who has been UNBELIEVABLY challenging, now reaches out to hold my hand for reassurance, even when he was biting, kicking, headbut...

Goodbye..I'll miss you

So it's been 24 hours since my Dad died. Yes, he was old. Yes, he was ill. But the shock of being told your Dad is 'quite poorly', then arriving at the ward, by yourself, to discover that he is, actua...
