Alvendia - The dance music recording artist from the San Francisco Bay Area ….
This Filipina / Spanish / American female sensation is a San Jose, California native and was born into a musically inclined family. Alvendia started singing at her church and school choir. Alvendia continued to dance and sing for the Mamie Batts Dance Academy and performed for the Foothill Repertory Company and the Festival of Arts in Los Altos Hills. One of her most memorable performances was her work for President Clinton’s council in 1993.In 1999 Alvendia wrote and co-produced her first single, "Always On My Mind" with Bay Area music producer, Slammin’ Sam Maxion. When it was released in 2000, her single made its impact as several top radio stations in the Bay Area picked her up. With one of the biggest stations, WILD 94.9 giving her airplay on their mix shows, this artist’s dreams unfolded before her.This catapulted her career into the dance community and allowed her to garner fans in the San Francisco Bay Area and worldwide. This soon led to performances, opening for legendary artists like Stevie B, Lisa Lisa and Jocelyn Enriquez, as well as placement of her single on the Dance Music Authority (DMA) Freestyle Compilation, Volume 3.She soon recorded her second single, "Daydreaming" produced by renowned songwriter and producer, Glenn Gutierrez. This single was featured on Bad Boy Joe’s Freestyle Compilation, Volume 3 (2003) and had fans eagerly anticipating the release of her full length album.In 2002 Alvendia signed to Rhythm Drive Records, an independent label owned by Filipino-American music entrepreneur, Reno Ursal, formerly of Classified Records. Alvendia soon found herself very busy recording tracks for her highly anticipated debut album "Forever" released in stores on April 13, 2004. This album features her new dance singles "Suddenly" and "The Night Is Young". Both singles are already garnering airplay on U.S. radio.Her single release "Suddenly" is featured on the Freestyle Lost and Found Compilation put together by WILD 94.9 Jose Melendez that features top dance recording artists from the Bay Area, This has received rave reviews. Her first national single release " The Night Is Young" features 4 jam-packed mixes that caters to all genres of dance music. It stays consistent at radio stations in Seattle, Dallas, Oregon and is doing very well on satellite radio stations XM Radio and DMX Music and was also on the latest Abrecrombie and Fitch CD mix.Since the release of her debut album "Forever" , Alvendia has become a top seller on iTunes Music Store. Her presence in the Top 50 of the dance section of iTunes illustrates that Alvendia can compete with any major label release. In the week of June 2004, Alvendia’s album reached 3 for album downloads. Alvendia also has ringtones available for her ’Always on my Mind" and more.
The beautiful Alvendia was featured as one of the top up-coming Asian-American artist on Stir TV aired on KTSF and the International Channel. She was also featured in the May/June issue of Sassy Magazine in Hawaii and in the July 2004 issue of the Filipinas Magazine, US Dance Magazine – July/August issue.
Not only a talented vocalist, Alvendia also wrote over half of the songs on the album, showcasing her song writing talent. By listening closely to the words of each song, you’ll find that each one has a sentimental meaning to Alvendia.
Truly a talented artist, Alvendia maintains control of all aspects of her music from lyrics to harmony to melody.
