About Me

The song "The Goodbye Waltz" was over 40 years in the making, and took about a month to get out of Jeff's head. It was written to help get over things, and ditch old baggage that he'd been carrying. The shoe seemed to have fit more than just Jeff... other people were being hit by the song and telling us about it. It was helping them... Well here it is, finally.WE'D LOVE TO HEAR WHAT YOU THINK AS WELL!
.
Mama Hagglin played its first show, October 12th, 2003, at a club in Long Beach, CA. The band's early three piece sound is said to be reminiscent of "The Cream". In mid 2007, the trio grew by one, adding Jimmy Palmer on the piano & organ, which expanded the dynamics of the group and opened up new avenues for songwriting. in early 2008 while recording VIBE, the band underwent another change, and welcomed Jerry Adamowicz as the bands new bass player. The sound is very dynamic, and big. A classic late 60s/early 70s inspired sound that is full of soulful vocals, strong instrumentals, hard hitting beats and sweet harmonies.
To date, Mama's put out a live cd- LIVE 03') a demo- TAKE ONE, a 3 song single- THE GOODBYE WALTZ, and a full length full production CD- VIBE. to date (Feb. 08) VIBE is being prepared for release in the form of a plastic download card (release date TBA).
The band has been fortunate enough to play with some great artists over the past few years which include TEN YEARS AFTER, ERIC BURDON AND THE ANIMALS, MOUNTAIN, JOHNNY WINTER, .38 SPECIAL, BETH HART to name a few. This was to rub off nicely on Mama, as time went by. The material on VIBE & THE GOODBYE WALTZ show a matured side to the band, as it breaks away from the original harder three piece sound of the earlier LIVE 03. Lots of friends were in the studio with Mama laying down extra tracks. Some tracks include MANDOLIN, FULL HORN SECTION, CALLIOPE, CELLO, HARMONICA, FULL PERCUSSION SECTION, AND LOTS OF VOCALS. Mama even had STUDENTS FROM FRANK VESSELS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL sing on a track titled WAR. It was exciting to do.
Mama plans to have another release ready for the end of the year. Keep your fingers crossed!
