Come out, rock out, and oh yeah, check your scenester baggage at the door.
The Palindrome began in the fall of 2005 as a basement DIY cultural venue. We got shut down, as happens to most basement venues in NYC eventually, but in 2006 we expanded to move our scheduled shows into various venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan (including Brooklyn Fireproof, North Six, Lit Lounge and Rock Star). We tried to make sure all our shows embodied the all-inclusive urge to create and support DIY culture, that everyone felt welcome, and that all who entered got a healthy dose of fun and more than their share of the riff. Twas a good time indeed, my friends. Nowadays the shows are infrequent - but still worth every headache.
A different sort of inconvenient truth: I just counted, and of the 11 venues that once hosted Palindrome shows, four of them have since been shut down (The P-drome of course, Sin-e, North Six, and Brooklyn Fireproof). 4 out of 11. Just about a third. What gives, NYC?
