Dark Deception was founded in summer of 1998. In autumn 2001 they recorded their first demo called "6 gates to the unknown". The demo was completely self-produced and the band got a positive response. In the summer of 2002 Carlo left the band due to personal reasons. This was a problem because Dark Deception had a few gigs to play that summer. So the band asked Martin, a long time friend, to play as a session bassist. In May 2003 Dark Deception recorded their first MCD called "path of damnation". During the recordings of "path of damnation" chris asked an old friend called Wals for playing bass in Dark Deception. After two rehearsals the band found a new member on bass guitar. Wals brought some great new ideas and the rehearsals became better than ever. Since this time the line up was complete. Some gigs followed at the end of summer 2003 and the band started to write new songs for their upcoming album called "Spiritual War". The recording session started in summer 2004 and took place at the Projekt Roadstar studio in Stroheim near Linz (upper Austria). The studio was booked for two weeks. After the recording session Helmut left the band. He wanted to make music for himself in a different style. Helmut played two more gigs with Dark Deception. The last one was the CD-presentation of "Spiritual War". The album was released in January 2005. After Helumt left the band, Dark Deception decided to carry on with one guitar. At this time Dark Deception is working on new material for the next full-length album.
