BenSem. Formed to showcase the emotional songwriting talents of Craig Semmens a Pontypridd, Wales, Uk based troubled genius, with songwriting talents rarely heard in todays music industry. Along with his band he travels around Wales and occasionally the UK showcasing his songwriting abilities. He goes under the name BenSem. Who is BenSem you ask? Obviously Sem originates from Semmens, Sem is his nickname. Sem has struggled through many hard times throughout his life and at the age of twenty two a broken spirit Sem sat in his bathroom and created Ben, an alter ego, someone he felt could give him the strength to open a gateway to a more colourful persona Sem had been desperately seeking.
Sem nutured his creative streak from a young age may it be writing poetry or writing stories but at the age of 17 was given a guitar ( which did end up as fuel for a camp fire but that’s a different story). From 17 he began writing songs failing to realize this was what he was destined to do, and was the start of a long journey with hard times to come. BenSem is supported by his band with long time friend Pete Rawbone who has been a creative back bone for Sems in his long years of songwriting. The band is completed by musicians Adrian Jones on bass and Kevin Cook on the drums. Together the unit that is BenSem has been creating a stir in the local music scene and sights are set high for the future. Soon everyone will hear the unique sound that is BenSem.
