DJ Phil DaBeatz

About Me

22

Phil Roush by day and Phil DaBeatz by night. DaBeatz's professional backgound includes careers in Politics/political campaigns, Healthcare Consulting & Sales, and Nightclub Management & Operations. Currently DaBeatz is the Vice President of Business Development and Project Management for an Interior and Architectural Design/Build Firm in Bucktown. Taking on this position in Q4 of 2007, it would seem that he may not have enough time to follow his dream of DJing and music. However, his DJ career also took off in 2007 and the immediate success of his style behind the decks exploded into the Chicago Nightlife (and beyond). Certainly, his weekdays are busy in the office, but his weekday and weekend nights are even busier.
Phil DaBeatz's love for music is apparent in every aspect of his life, and he shares his passion with clubgoers and music fans across the city. Whether he is compiling CDs for fans, trainers, clubs or other businesses, or spinning live, you can always be guaranteed a great energy when he is behind the decks.
In the past few years, and with the help of his previous industry experience, he has had the opportunity to hear some of the world's most popular and successful deejays (DJs) play live at many different Nightclubs in Chicago, including his "home club" - Hydrate. Immediately finding his love for music in the deejay booth, DaBeatz taught himself the fundamentals of deejaying wasting no time developing his skills and increase his knowledge of equipment, music, and mixing. Many of his guest deejays influenced his road to becoming a deejay, including DJ Tony Moran, DJ Alex Lauterstein, DJ Brett Henrichsen, DJ Joe Gauthreaux, DJ Eddie Baez, DJ Roland Belmares, and Chicago's own DJ Luis M.
Hydrate Residents - DJ Laura B, DJ Greg Drescher, DJ Ralphi Rosario, and most importantly, DJ Jeannette were tremendous influences to DaBeatz. On DaBeatz' nights off from managing the club, he would work with DJ Jeannette (and as often as possible Drescher and Laura B) in the booth as their light technician, using each experience as an opportunity to learn by watching and listening to these deejays in action. DJ Chris Eterno has also been a tremendous influence to DaBeatz, teaching DaBeatz the true style of Chicago House and the ability to get the crowd moving in every environment. Eterno has stepped up as a mentor and example in the booth. Without these deejays, Phil DaBeatz would not have the opportunities, passion, or drive he has today.
With the help of many of his closest friends and supporters (Dominic, Robbie, Bez, Travis, Johnna, Liz, Dani - just to name a few), his deejay career began to take off independent of his club in August of 2007! By September, he was no longer involved in Club Operations, and decided to attack his deejay career head on.
His style is hot - high energy and big sound! He thrives at bringing dance floor energy to lounges in Chicago, creating an upbeat "party" atmostphere for all to enjoy. Within the industry, he has quickly earned the nickname of PHIL DABEATZ, because when he is spinning you have no choice but to feel the beats. He spins a mixture of Progressive House, Techno, Trance and House - mixing in club classics, mainstream favorites, and his own unique style tracks which people have begun to request week after week.
Today, he has earned residencies at Victor Hotel Lounge (Chicago) on Fridays with guest spots on Wednesdays and Minibar/Winebar (Chicago) on Saturdays and Thursdays.
Phil DaBeatz has also worked with Red Bull and All Terrain at Chicago's own 26th REELING FILM FESTIVAL and the evening was a total success! He has also had the opportunities to spin at Loyola University Chicago and on rare occasions at Hydrate while he was working there in 2006 and 2007. His resume keeps expanding with each passing week as club owners and managers begin to catch word of his unique sound and high energy in the booth.
Continue to watch for Phil DaBeatz in Chicago and beyond as we know his sound and style in the booth will continue to take off as one of the fastest rising deejays in Chicagoland.
For now, you can hear his sounds and feel the energy of his Music Fridays at Victor Hotel and EVERY Thursday and Saturday at Minibar/Winebar. If you are interested in contacting him, please send him a message and/or add him as your friend. We will be in contact very soon!
Stay tuned to this myspace page for updates to his schedule, music additions, and additional photos of his events. We are only just beginning!
