Bagging the 1st place award in a local TV (ABS-CBN Studio 23) inter-collegiate battle of the bands, their first gig. With a goal to bring back the hard rock scene in the Philippines, Jeyvi Castillo (vocals, guitars), Marc Ponce (lead guitars, vocals), Aries Villariez (low end), and Paolo Sison (drums) have managed to stay strong and determined to achieve that goal and open the doors to other hard rock enthusiasts.Armed with powerful originals and gut busting covers ranging from the allman brothers band, lynyrd skynyrd, pride n glory, alice cooper, guns n roses, stone temple pilots to velvet revolver. The band has evolved from over five years of performing live in different venues and audiences alongside top acts in the Philippines namely Wolfgang, Razorback, P.O.T., The Dawn, ChicoSci, Sandwich, Slapshock. Monkshood gigged in famous and well known clubs in the metro such as Mayrics, Peligro Bar, Temple Bar, Hard Rock Café Makati, Freedom Bar, Rock Radio Café, Club SeX, Nerve Bar, Music Museum, Chakiks Musicians Bar and many more.
