About Me

Words. Music. Pictures. That's me.
My three great passions, all of which I indulge to the max, and all of which bring me great pleasure.
Words - I love to write, to create with the power of words. My second book, To Die For – 25 Saturday Night Fright Flicks, has just been published and is available now at all good online retailers. Click on the cover below to visit the website where you can download a preview pdf and order a copy.
My first book, A Week In Paris – An Illustrated Journal, was published in 2006. Written over seven days in Paris in September 2005, the book captures my thoughts and feelings about this wonderful city, accompanied by dozens of black and photographs. Again, click on the cover below to visit the website for the book.
My next literary project is my long gestating semi-autobiographical account of the heady days of the 1980s rock scene in Nottingham. I'm almost finished the first draft and hope to have this labour of love out by the end of 2008.
Other finished projects include a novella called ‘Cattle’ that was published in a horror anthology in 2007, and a screenplay called Six Numbers that is currently filming and will be released later this year.
Finally, I write a blog several times a week, which you can find by clicking on the banner below. Enjoy.
Music - Guitars and synthesisers rule my world. I play both (bass being my weapon of choice) though I prefer to spend my time creating music rather than performing it at present. I've created a large number of remixes and bootlegs over the last few years, but have scaled back my musical endeavours recently to concentrate on writing and photography.
One project I am very proud of, however, was composing original music for the movie Deaden
, written and produced by, and starring my friend John Fallon (aka Arrow In The Head) which will be getting a DVD release this year. Check it out at myspace.com/deaden_movie.
Pictures - I have a passion for photography, particularly black and whites, specialising mostly in landscapes, whether urban or otherwise, and people. I have my own website, House of Darcy , where you can see the fruits of my labours.
I’m always interested in capturing a person or place in my own inimitable style, so if you think you'd make a good subject, let me know and we'll see what happens....
I also collaborate with my partner dark under the name Darcy.and.the.dark., the results of which will be unveiled to the world in the very near future.
In the meantime, you may wish to ckeck out her own website, which contains her photography and artwork. Click on the graphic below to visit her.

What else does a man need?
Here's a video that I assembled for the Nine Inch Nails track 'The Warning' off their new album 'year zero'. Enjoy....

My Interests

Words. Music. Pictures.
....and all points radiating outwards from this trinity of the arts....

I'd like to meet:

Anyone and everyone with a creative flair, with imagination, with passion and commitment to their art, whatever art it may be.
Anyone who enjoys life and being social, music and movies, and intelligent discussion about trivial topics.
Life's short enough so express yourself - leave your mark!

Music:

I love such a diverse range of music it'd be impossible to list everything, but my world is particularly rocked by loud guitars, layered synths and the work of Trent Reznor and Gary Numan, musical gods amongst men.

Movies:

My heart will forever belong to horror movies, Argento, Romero, Fulci, Craven, Carpenter, Cronenberg, and all of the other auteurs who have flickered across my screen over the years.
It's not all horror, though. I appreciate all movies, the only caveat being that they entertain me.

Television:

Waste. Of. Space.I'd rather be creating than vegitating, though I do have a weakness for Arrested Development, 24, Life On Mars / Ashes To Ashes, Family Guy and My Name Is Earl. So sue me.

Books:

These should be in everyone's library:
Salem's Lot - Stephen King
1984 - George Orwell
The Catcher In The Rye - J D Salinger
Blood Crazy - Simon Clark
The Time Traveller's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger

Heroes:

Words - Harlan Ellison, Stephen King, Bill Bryson.
Music - Trent Reznor, Gary Numan, Adam Duritz, Tori Amos.
(Motion) Pictures - John Carpenter, George A Romero, James Cameron, Dario Argento.
