After working as Lighting Director for the school theater at Apex Highschool, Rob went on to work at Thompson Theater at NCSU. After a year or so, Rob started DJing at WKNC-FM 88.1, the campus radio station. He found other fellow-minded DJs at the station and together they created Afterhours, North Carolina's longest running electronic music program airing Monday-Thursdays 8pm-12midnight since 1994.
During this time he got to meet many new friends and went out to places like the Fallout Shelter, the 5-0, ACC Tavern, MARZ, Gotham, and the New Bar. In addition, he and his friends threw several free outdoor parties. He also made many road trips to parties up and down the East Coast from Boston to WMC in Miami to Twilo in NYC, Ultraworld/Buzz/Fever in DC/Baltimore and even Cleveland. Rob met up with Rob Pickering and started the Resonance Project producing two CDs of local electronic artists. They also had a weekly internet radio program going for a while too.
Eventually this led to Resonance Project providing promotions and DJ services at a nightclub in Chapel Hill called NV. Ironically, Rob had trained under another WKNC radio DJ named Dave Brock who called his radio show NV back in 1994. The club NV brought in many famous DJs, such as Scott Henry, Feelgood, East Coast Boogiemen, Sean Cusick, DJ Three, and Alex Whalen and Sean Ryan from Yoshitoshi/Deep Dish and many more.
The club changed hands and Resonance Project had reached a new chapter with its members going various ways. Rob then DJ'd on and off at Ringside in Durham and Cafe Cyclo in Raleigh.
Rob is now DJing at a new club called Kulture (www.kulture.us). Come check them out!
In addition to his DJing, Rob has many other interests such as computers, HAM radio, Model Railroading and Railfanning.
