''Every kid that has come to a show has been awesome. We have never had anyone come and tell us we suck, which is so amazing. Even if someone did tell me that, I'd probably beat him up and tell him I was cooler than him because I'm in a band and he's not. That's just how I roll though...''
Aaron Barry (Efendi guitarist/vocalist) 2006
Efendi all began back in 2003 at a little house in Wallacetown Ontario (just outside of London Ont...population 500 or so). Longtime friends, Mark Godfrey and Aaron Barry sat down on a lovely autumn day and hammered out what would become the first song of many to be penned by the duo..but at the time, they didn't realize that that song, ''Thinking of You'' would become anything more than some words on a piece of paper with some guitar chords....little did they know, they would begin a cross genre band from nowhere, Canada.
Efendi began as a band when Michael Godfrey (drums) was brought in. Mark's little brother, and friend was the obvious choice for drums when Aaron realized he would rather play guitar and sing than fill the seat behind the kit. After establishing basic band dynamics, and with a handful of original songs, Efendi began their adventure as a unit, and began playing shows, recording songs and having an amazing time doing everything they could.
After recording a demo disc in early 2003, a second demo in late 2003, an acoustic EP in 2004, a full length in 2005, a single EP in 2005 and a live album/dvd in 2006, Efendi has prooven themselves to be writing machines and have cut their teeth in cutting edge studios as well as low budget home studios. The trio continues to meld genres and record and hope to release a full length studio album soon.
Efendi has performed and played with some amazing bands over the years. We would like to especially thank the following bands for the support, love and hospitality and mostly for being cool about playing shows with us:
Merit, Asphyxiating Amber, Somehow in August, Sex Slaves, Romeo Liquor Store, Metal Hearts, Adelaide, Kurtain Kall, Falling From Memory
And thanks to the bands who have shared Efendi's band members: Somehow in August, Septik Tank, Falling From Memory, MAJIC, Studio 57, Fallen Heroes (RIP), Broken Homes (RIP), Columbian Cartels (RIP), Clinically Prooven (RIP), The Cities are Haunted
