My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Like-minded people. Like .....you for instance! There is no set criteria with me. However, the narrow-minded should please go elsewhere!

Music:

The songs/videos I stream on this site do a better job of describing where I'm coming from. Like many of us, it's usually impossible to grow up at the mercy of ones parents' record collection and not be influenced by it to at least some degree! So, I still remain appreciative of the "old stuff". I could go on, but this category is already boring me. Let's move on to the "Movies" section, shall we?

Movies:

Lawrence of Arabia, Raging Bull, The Third Man, Sideways, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Caddyshack, Lost in Translation, Kurwosawa's shogun epics, Hitchcock's films between 1940-60, "spaghetti" westerns. Yes I do watch more current flix but I think too many films these days are being special-effected to death! I'm more inclined to watch TCM or IFC than I am to watch HBO. So there!

Television:

Don't watch all that much TV these days, which makes the fact that I have cable all the more puzzling. I could do without most reality series, although Amazing Race is still OK and I love Hell's Kitchen (Gordon Ramsay rules!) As for the rest: Monty Python's Flying Circus, Seinfeld, Honeymooners, Kids in the Hall, Simpsons, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Cheap Seats, and what would I do without the History channel???!!! I tend to lose interest in shows very quickly. I think some quality-control is in order for American TV! If elected president, I will ban ANY show from running more than 3 seasons. And thats a promise!

Books:

I generally stick to historical works & biographies. Apart from that just about anything from Ayn Rand, Thomas Cahill, Ray Bradbury, E.L. Doctorow, Bill Bryson, Chuck Palahniuk, Frank McCourt, Nick Hornby, Pete Hamill, Jonathan Franzen & Mark Kurlansky. Sherlock Holmes mysteries have been a favorite for me since high school.I have a bad habit of buying way too many books than I have time to read....or am I merely just stockpiling them?

Heroes:

This crazy world could sure use more of them.

My Blog

The Police return to MSG!!!

Long story short: I'm glad Sting came to his senses and decided to hook back up with The Police.  Great show this past Wednesday night and with any luck, I'll be seeing them again @ MSG on 10/31/...

Another reason for Yankee fans to hate me

This came from the New York Times, via si.com's 'Truth and Rumors' section.  Believe me even I don't think so many Yankee fans would jump ship, even in the worst of seasons.  But this s...
