Jessica Juarez started singing at the age of 3 after she asked for a karaoke machine for Christmas. Whenever she could come visit her Grandparents in NM, she would hold concerts in their living room, singing mostly english pop songs. She moved back to Deming, NM at the age of 5 where she continued to sing and put concerts on for anyone who listen.
At the urging of both her Grandparents and her Mother, she signed up for a summer Mariachi class in the summer of 2002 where she agreed to try out the violin for the three week program. It was during these three weeks, that she realized she could not only play the violin, but could also interpret the Mariachi style of music. She enrolled in the Deming High School Mariachi program as part of the Mariachi Companeros group. Again at the urging of her Grandparents she learned their favorite song "Amor Eterno" which she performed and recorded with that group at the age of 14.She became a member of the performing group Mariachi Amistad in her sophomore year. That year she performed with the group for New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, in Mesilla Park, NM for Mariachi Sundays, at the showcase in the Las Cruces Mariachi conference, and opened the National School Board convention in Orlando, Fl in front of 10,000 people where she had the priviledge of meeting Christopher Reeves. In addition to performing with the Mariachi group during her high school years, she recorded a second cd with the high school group in her junior year. This same year she embarked on a solo performing career at the age of 16. In her senior year, she had the honor of performing as a soloist in the Las Cruces International Mariachi conference.2007 started out with a bang for Jessica when she recorded her solo cd entitled "Ayer y Ahora" in Arenas Valley, NM with the help of Brandon Perrault, who also directed the cd, at Barefoot Recording Studios.Jessica has continued performing and recently was crowned Miss Copper Country 2008. She chose to have a dual platform for her year of service. Coming from a military family, it was not hard for her to decide what one of her platform of sevice and fundraising would be for her year of reign. She chose the Back-A-Vet program which began when her friend was injured while serving in Iraq in Feb 2007. In addition, she started "We're all in this together-Supporting those fighting cancer" after her Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout her year, she will be fundraising and raising awareness of her two platforms as well as performing for military personnell and Relay for Life events throughout the communities.
