Instructors:
Matt Woodward
Matt was a major influence in the Kingston music scene when I was coming up and was the founder of the LMLC2 (Live Music Lovers Charity Concert) events. LMLC2 was an indelible experience for those who were audience, showcasing some of Kingston’s best talent at the time.
Joe Chithalen
Joe was a music major at Queen’s University and played bass for Wild Blues Yonder (a Sunday night staple at AJ’s Hanger), Bloom, and Weeping Tile (Sarah Harmer). Joe was also instrumental in The Mahones formative years. Tragically in 1999, at 31, Joe passed away suddenly while on tour with The Mahones in Amsterdam as a result of anaphylactic shock. In his memory his family and local musicians initiated “A Joe Show†and the “Joe Chithalen Memorial Music Lending Library in Kingstonâ€. The Library provides instruments and lessons to young musicians who can't afford them. Since it’s inception other music lending libraries have been created in other centers. This past summer (2007) “A Joe Show†was held outside of Kingston, for the first time, at the Port Dover Friday the 13th bike rally. You can hear a lick Joe taught me during the bass break in “Ephedrine†in “Cam’s Bass†…it’s the percussive fast bit… Joe is missed…
