WAYNE JANUS

About Me

CANADIAN GUITARIST-SINGER-SONGWRITER- Wayne Janus began performing in the mid 90’s touring through out Southern Ontario, performing at festivals, clubs and private parties. His raw and energetic performances began to draw considerable attention to his musicianship. With in the first two years as a semi-professional musician, Wayne was hired by Live Earth Management as the lead guitarist for a legendary Bluesman named George “Wild Child” Butler. Over the next ten years Janus and Butler would perform together intermittently through out Canada, U.S.A. and Europe. Some of Wayne’s highlighted performances as Wild Child’s lead guitarist were The 1997 Café Campus Blues Fest.-Montreal Quebec, 1997 Bell River Blues/Cajun Fest.-Bell River Ontario, 1998 Quebec Theatre- Quebec City Quebec, 2003 Lucerne Blues Festival-Lucerne Switzerland, 2004 Snow Bird Jazz and Blues Festival- Utah USA.When Wayne is not freelancing with other acts, he is booking himself and touring throughout Canada and the US. Recently Wayne was caught on film performing solo at the World United Music Festival in San Marcos Texas. Then two days later in Vancouver British Columbia and shortly after; in Southern Ontario. Even though this musician is always networking and performing, he has managed time record and release three original CD’s from three different genres of music under his own name. Aside from doing session work for other musicians, Wayne released a Rock/Blues CD entitled OMP. OMP features Wayne ripping on a Les Paul guitar making it scream as if it were a phoenix rising from the flames. OMP was followed by the 2007 release of a “Swamp Blues” CD entitled All Access Blues. Wayne is all about the Blues on this one and holds his own effortlessly among the who’s who of the Blues World. Then there is the 2009 release of Pop/Rock CD September Moon. With September Moon Wayne has offered his fan base more dimensions to his musical diversity by stepping off course completely by creating this mystical folk based jazz/rock album. This album has everything from classically based orchestral compositions to duet and solo ballades.Roots Time Magazine in Belgium placed All Access Blues as one of their top three picks for best blues album of 2008. They referred to Wayne Janus as the trump card of the Canadian Blues scene. Wild Child Butler referred to Wayne as the meanest blues guitarist he ever heard. Most of Wayne’s fan base will tell you its best to see him live to really understand what he’s all about. Aside from the appreciation and kind words from blues fans around the world, The CD September Moon is getting prime internet radio play through various stations world wide. Wayne also registered his CD releases with a US distribution company called CD Baby. Through CD Baby, All Access Blues and September Moon are available for online purchase through countless outlets. To best describe Wayne Janus’s live performance, one would make reference to his sound. He acts with conviction when improvising and his approach to the guitar goes way beyond the usual. He is dynamic and unpredictable. Wayne doesn’t just play music in front of an audience; he connects with the listener and plays mysteriously with the energy of sound. During a recent interview Wayne was asked to tell something about himself. He responded by saying. “I am a musician.” .
