Israel Houghton and New Breed will be touring to over 30 cities bringing their music ministry across the land. With the completion of their latest project, A Deeper Level, they look to share worship in their own unique individual and collective styles. They come with the notion of “bringing their own atmosphere” to concerts.

Byron Cage is excited about his latest project entitled Live At the Apollo: The Proclamation. This is the first time a gospel CD/DVD has been recorded at the legendary Apollo. Produced by PAJAM, Cage wrote the majority of the songs on this CD. He emphasizes that he wanted to bring Jesus Christ back to the forefront, to the center of ministry.

Tye Tribbett & GA are anxiously anticipating the recording of their upcoming project, Standout. Sure to be an energetic, crazy-praise-filled time in the Lord, the August 17-18 recording will have many elements. One evening will be held at The Rock Church in Virginia Beach, VA and then the next day there will be a Holy Ghost beach party.

Although he admonishes the trend toward prosperity preaching that equates economic well-being with blessedness, Jakes reinforces the connection between faith, good works, and responsibility. And citing biblical verses and observations by successful people--Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and athlete Deion Sanders, among others--Jakes offers sound advice on how to put faith into action. He begins by insisting on a hard self-examination and takes aim at what he considers the major barrier to success: self-imposed limitations that result from a lack of spiritual faith. Jakes applies scripture across a wide range of personal challenges, including finding a mate and achieving financial success. For those who have already achieved a measure of success, Jakes cautions against complacency and arrogance. At whatever level of achievement, Jakes urges readers to learn to open themselves to giving and receiving blessings. Recalling his own rocky road to success from a childhood of poverty to the head of one of the nation's largest religious enterprises, Jakes makes clear how he was compelled to reposition himself to grow spiritually and materially. Jakes continues to deliver a message of hope and inspiration.Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Madea's Uninhibited Commentaries on Love and Life by Tyler PerryOne could say that if the title of this book confuses you, then you probably shouldn't be reading it. But, as Madea helpfully suggests, "If you don't understand something I'm saying here and you're not black, you will have to ask somebody who is." Madea—Southern-speak for "mother dear"—is the fierce alter ego of Tyler Perry, who has paraded the marijuana-smoking, pistol-packing, trash-talking matron through a series of hit gospel plays and films. Although primarily a comic figure based on unapologetically crude behavior coming from a harmless-looking old lady, Madea is envisioned by Perry (who provides his own introduction before turning the reins over to his inner grandma) as a throwback to a time when strong matriarchs ruled the community. The result is a surprisingly fresh compilation of homespun advice—which Madea says the reader should take "at your own risk"—on love, sex, getting ahead in life and (strangely) the thousand-plus uses of Vaseline. Although veering dangerously close to serious at times, Perry litters Madea's anarchic, stage-ready monologues with hilariously bad quips along the lines of "the grass is always greener on the other side, but the water bill is higher."
