Nigel Wolf & the NOW Project

About Me

Founded in 2003, the NOW Project developed from a weekly jam with original members: Nigel Wolf, Andrew Frost, Paul Barclay (throat-singer), Ivana Popovic (violin). Nigel recruited Ben Legge, at the end of 03; first gig at Holy Joe's January 04. Paul Fitterer completes the core group, performing with Ann-Marie Boudreau (backing vocals) @ the NOW Lounge February 04. More gigs ensued, with the first of three PS Kensington performances on the Day-out-of-Time, July 25/04; followed by Kimbercote & OM Festival appearances. In the Spring of 04, Nigel founded a spoken word & music event, called "the WORD" @ the Rustic Cosmo Café in Parkdale, attracting many fine poets & musicians: Linda Stitt, Bruce Stephenson, Brian Di Giuseppe, Norman Allan, Nik Beat and bill bissett, to name a few.The NOW Project took a hiatus between 05-06, during which time the APB Trio continued to jam and gig. In the summer of 07, the band reunited for a memorable PS Kensington gig. We have been blessed to have many excellent musicians join our ranks at various gigs, including : Yoshi Yamano (sitar), Rick Hyslop (violin), Jeff Burke (bassoon), and William Pipher (didgeridoo). The name of our band reflects the strong emphasis on improvisation in all our performances. This was the theme of the seminal Friday night jam sessions on Armstrong Avenue, and continues to drive us forward today. For this reason, I feel blessed to work with such fine musicians ! in Oneness, Nigel

Sounds Like: funk-groove-trance w/ spoken word.TANTRIC RAP defined : "Tantric Rap is, as the name suggests, designed to liberate and expand one's consciousness through the power of the word. The Tibetans and all mystics know that this brief adventure we call "life" is but a preparation for the ultimate journey : Death ! Meditation is the practice -- if we can master meditation in our present incarnation, we will then be prepared to enter the final stage with awareness. Death, then, will not be a falling asleep but, rather, an awakening to the eternal mystery -- a return home, to the Promised Land." Nigel Wolf
