The Amazing Doda's story!
It's hard to write about someone as amazing as Doda. Although she's just 23, she has already done much more than other pop-stars in her age. Anyways, I don't really see the point in giving Dorota's biography in details. If you want to know her story, know how she became a star, you can look her up in Wikipedia. I'll try to write about Doda in the way I see her.
Although she begun in the Jozefowicz's theater in Warsaw, we all know her from her preformances on stage these days. A straightforward person with a strong voice, probably one of the best in today's show-biznes, controversial clothes and honesty - these are the main characteristics that pop into my head when I think about Doda. She attracks because, as she says, she's the star. The only one star of this kind in the Polish music show-biznes. Such an attitude may be seen in both, good and bad way. Her enemies may hate her even more, but her fans will love her anyway...
Doda is probably the person who appears in Polish newspapers the most. Everyday we can find few articles about her in newspapers, television or internet.
Although Doda with her band Virgin released their first album in 2002, the real Dodo-mania started in 2005, after she's already relased two rock albums with her band ("Virgin" and "Bimbo") . Doda was famous not because of the great music that she's created with Virgin, but because of taking part in Polish reality show called "Bar". The real break through in her career took place in 2005, when she was singing her big hit "Znak Pokoju" ("Peace Sign") during Sopot Festival. The song won the Audience Choice Award (Amber Nightingale) on the very same festival. The song was the biggest hit of the year and was on the top of Polish charts.
Just after 'Peace sign' there was another great hit - 'Two Fairytales'. Unfortunately, in 2006 Doda had to have serious surgery of her spine. It was so important for Doda that after she left hospital she wrote the song called 'Chance'. Videoclip made to this song, which in very short time was on the top of almost all the charts and won Opole Festival, was controversial, because we can see Doda was kissing another... women! A lot of newspapers (such as 'Fakt') started speculations about Doda being bisexual!
Although 2006 was the year of success for Virgin ("Chance", winning in Opole Festival and Sopot TOPtrendy Festival), 2007 begun very unpleasantly. After the New Year concert, Tomex, the guitar player announced on the official website that it's the end of Virgin. Doda didn't agree with Tomex. She said that Tomex, as a founder of the band, has no right to do it, because she was the one, who promoted Virgin and made them popular. After some arguments Doda became the new band's leader. In spite of this fact, Doda decided to release her first solo album - "Diamond Bitch", but before she managed to do it, there was another crisis in Doda's life. In the spring of 2007, she announced that she is getting divorce with her famous husband, who is a football player - Radoslaw Majdan. The reason of the divorce was not a secret to public opinion - Doda claimed that Radoslaw's cheated on her.
As the time went by, Doda and Radoslaw still remained as a marriage. Eventually they seem to reconcile but media still speculate about their relationship.
In 6th June in radio RMF FM there was the premiere of first Doda's singel - 'Katharsis' and it was listened by 7 milions people in Poland! Two days later Doda sang it live, when she opened TOPtrendy Festival. 3 days after debut on POPlista RMF FM the song reached number 2, despite the fact that there was no videoclip made for this song! The album called 'Diamond Bitch' was realesed in 27th July and immediately became number one in Polish official Album's Chart and stayed there for few weeks.
In September Doda was also talking and singing on Sopot Festival, where she sang her new singel ('To jest to' - 'This is it').
It looks like there are more atractions waiting for us. Because how on the Earth someone could be bored with Doda?!
