About Me

The birds first gathered around on a quiet summer evening in Barcelona, Spain. Wind blowing through trees, the moon and the stars high up in the big black sky and silence out there all night. Some songs were sung, words were whispered, oaths were sworn. The band was first named Weird Sisters, after a wonderful song by Sparklehorse, a stroke of genius by Shakespeare and suddenly discovered family ties between the band members. A great load of songs were recorded through worn-out microphones and other dusty equipment. A selection was made, and the first record was called ‘Thus beauty came upon us’. Weird Sisters was short-lived though. A couple of years later fame and fortune was gained by a band by the same name, and a new name was required. Birdcircus was born. In the meanwhile recording went on in a beautiful basement recording studio in Belgium and a cozy living room in Spain. New microphones were bought, dust was blown off the equipment. After two years of hard work the result is finally ready for listening. ‘Silence out there tonight’ is the second collection of songs made by birdcircus. Now the band is planning on chirping live on stage, writing new songs underneath millennium trees, listening to silence best played loud and inviting everybody to the party...
