Band Members: Dr Bob Quarles: keyboards, congas & vocals; Julie Quarles: vocals, acoustic guitar, & percussion; Gary Boze: guitar & vocals; Marion Hodges: guitar & vocals;Gary Shortridge: bass & vocals;Buz King: drums
Influences: Formed in 2001 by musicians with a passion for British music from the mid '60's to mid 70's, The English Channel is a band like no other. The English Channel plays some of the most memorable and influential music ever written. Their goal was to make each song sound as authentic as humanly possible. From the legendary guitar solos to the multi-part harmonies, right down to the smallest detail (like the fireman's bell in "Penny Lane" or the castanets in "Funeral for a Friend"), every song would sound exactly as the audience remembered it. What the "Fab Faux" does for The Beatles' songs, The English Channel does for the rest of the British Invasion bands' music.Voted "Most Fun Band" by the readers of Richmond, VA's STYLE WEEKLY magazine, audiences of all ages have responded with wild enthusiasm, singing & dancing along to nearly every song.If you love British music from the 60's & 70's, you must see an English Channel performance. The English Channel is a time machine that takes you back to where you once belonged.
Sounds Like: The English Channel sounds just like each of the artists' music they perform. Here are just a few songs they're playing now: Hippy Hippy Shake - Swinging Blue Jeans; Downtown - Petula Clark; Sunshine of your Love - Cream; I Saw Her Standing There - The Beatles; Time of the Season - The Zombies; I’m a Man - Spencer Davis Group; Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues; It's My Life - The Animals; Those Were the Days - Mary Hopkin; Paint It Black - Rolling Stones; Bus Stop - Hollies; No Matter What - Badfinger; Can’t You See That She’s Mine- Dave Clark 5; All Day and All of the Night - The Kinks; To Sir With Love - Lulu; Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles; To Love Somebody - Bee Gees; Tommy Overture/See Me, Feel Me/Pinball Wizard - The Who; Needles & Pins - The Searchers; Ferry Cross the Mersey - Gerry & the Pacemakers; Heart Full of Soul - The Yardbirds; I Only Wanna Be With You - Dusty Springfield; Let’s Spend the Night Together - Rolling Stones; Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise) - The Beatles. Check out their website for a complete listing: www.thenglishchannel.com
