About Me

The Get-Down Louies started, kinda, sorta in '02. We were in like 7th grade and didn't know how to play our instruments (id like to think we've gotten better.) We were pretty much just a generic pop-punk band then, but who wasn't when they first started? We didn't play many shows. In fact, they mostly consisted of us playing for our friends at graduation parties. In '04 our previous drummer left to join Lunchbox. We sorta went on haitus after that. Mike and Jimmy recorded our "debut" cd on a 4-track in Mike's living room under the name Anti-Cat that summer. It was wretched. In late '04, we contacted Kyle to fill in on drums, so we were back on. We decided to leave forever behind us the stench of "Anti-Cat" and changed our name to The Get-Down Louies. We decided to stop playing pop-punk and try a different sound. We found it, but can't really describe it. Pop? Garage? Rock? Indie? bleh... We put together a 5-song EP entitled "Lower Your Standards... It's the Get-Down Louies" in the summer of 05. Then we started playing shows ... for people ... that we didn't know. Our first show was kind of horrible. Luckily we kept with it and now our live show is simply amazing, in a lose your virginity in the bathroom during our set kind of way. We are currently recording our first full length CD as The Get-Down Louies.
