About Me

Let's see... I like to keep busy. So I'm always picking up new hobbies and trying new things, or looking for new places to go. I enjoy being outdoors and participating in outdoor activities. I seem to have a natural eye for nature photography, so I try to bring my camera along with me as much as possible, although I usually leave it home when I go skiing or mountain biking because I fall down so much I'd be afraid of breaking it! Music is very important to me, and I can probably find at least one artist of any genre that appeals to me. My main interest is progressive rock, but some of my more recent acquaintances have been exposing me to folk and bluegrass music, (and, even some folky-country) which I find I am really liking. I am re-learning how to play acoustic guitar after a 15 year hiatus! I also love to write (non-fiction for now), and I'm pretty good at that, too. Perhaps someday I can direct my skills into writing a book and actually make some money off them!

My Interests

Mountain biking, road biking, photography, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, reading, writing, painting (watercolors), sketching, politics, helping my friends redecorate their places, meeting new people, doing new things, going new places.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who shares some of my interests. I love to meet new people; I'd love to meet you! But send me a message before you send me a friends request. I like to get to know people before I add them to my page. Thanks!

Music:

Dream Theater, Green Day, Bad Religion, System of a Down, Pink Floyd, Tori Amos, Better Than Ezra, to name some of my favorites. Pretty much anything, though I'm not really into pop-country, hip hop, or rap.

Movies:

The Fifth Element, Underworld, Van Helsing, basically sci-fi, horror type movies. I also enjoy action adventure with a little romance and comedy. Lara Croft, The Mummy, Romancing the Stone... I love all the Indiana Jones movies, and I am a HUGE fan of 007, even if he is a womanizer. :)

Television:

Jeff Corwin Quest, Survivorman, Dirty Jobs, House, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory. The Planet Earth series on Discovery was awesome! Highly recommended.

Books:

How about... authors? Stephen King, Brian Lumley, Dean Koontz are my faves. My guilty pleasure is romance novels by Susan Wiggs and Janet Evanovich. I like to read about politics, the environment, and other social awareness issues and self-help stuff every so often as well when I feel like life is spinning too far out of control.

Heroes:

My mother, my late aunt Peg, and anyone who fights for what they believe in

My Blog

Skis & Trees

So, I can't say that yesterday's ski was one of my most enjoyable experiences.  I still had fun, don't get me wrong.  But for one thing, I forgot to bring my cell phone with me, and I have b...

Someone take me away.....

So I'm reading this book, Woodswoman, by Anne LaBastille.  It's an autobiography written by this woman who gets divorced in the 60's (I think) and builds herself a little log cabin on a 20ac...

I do not get it.

Sometimes I feel like there are absolutely no trustworthy people left in this world.  Today is one of those days.  I am so tired of getting jerked around by people, and even more frustrated ...

back to normal

Christmas has finally come & gone.  It didn't go nearly as bad as I thought it would.  I say that only because I was afraid I'd get really depressed, but I didn't.  In fact, this ha...

I am now the proud owner of an Alvarez RD20SSB (that would be an acoustic guitar).  It seems like a nice beginner guitar.  I thought the whole guitar-buying process was going to be really pa...
