Just about 8 years ago the creative juices began flowing in a basement in the north suburbs of Chicago with a 7 member super crew, known by few as Verbal Ethics. The love for the music was never in question, but the overall determination and dedication to really make moves was not shared by all members. After a couple years of work with absolutely nothing to show for it, Verbal Ethics officially called it quits. Over the span of the next 3 or 4 years there was no organization within the crew and it looked as if the members had parted ways for good. Crew DJ/Producer/MC, Thesis, however, picked things up right where VE left off, honing his skills actively with friend and fellow MC, Racecar (formerly Mr. Burns of Organic Mind Unit and FreeBasic and currently half the equation known as Modill). Meanwhile, former and current members of the crew, UrbanSpeks and DumbLuck, had trouble getting back to what they loved doing, making music. After the original crew broke up, they each had the idea that if they wanted to continue their journeys into the Hip Hop world it would have to be as solo atists. Unfortunately, they couldn't seem to find that open door leading to the land of opportunity. Even with the original crew long gone, the friendships that had been built still remained. So, after a couple years of frustration, the two turned back to where they started in the first place, Thesis. The love for and dream of making good music with the people closest to them overshadowed any previous disagreement or misunderstanding from years passed. Now remember, these guys had already been friends for a long time and Thesis had already been splitting the bill on the apartment/home studio with StriveTek, Urban Spek's brother, who, along with Thesis co-founded Lab Rat Productions. When UrbanSpeks and Dumbluck rejoined Thesis, things started to run more smoothly than their previous experiences and the excitement they shared years earlier was reborn. Finally, the elder statesman of the crew, StriveTek, a talented graffiti write, also blessed the the crew with his own lyrical stylings, thus adding the final piece to the group, The Lab Rats. Nowadays, the crew is making a bigger name for itself than they ever imagined, sharing stages with Chicago legends, J.U.I.C.E, All Natural and Earatik Statik. They are currently awaiting the release of their debut album, "Pest Control" which has yet to receive a release date. The album has a nice mix of hard hitting, tear your head of type tracks as well as a hand full of songs you can't help moving your feet to. These guys have been around for a while, but they're just getting started. Who knows what lies ahead for this promising group, but the problems they once had in the past are exactly that, in the past. The group knows they're on the right path and they can't wait to see where that road take them.
