DieVersion

DieVersion originated in South Africa, in a state called the Free State, in a city called "Bloemfontein". DieVersion was formed in the beginning of 1996. It was founded by Ian, Cameron (they are brothers) and Werner. Well, every band needs a bassist, and we soon stumbled upon one of Bloem's most "brutal" bassists, a guy called Lee Wollenschleager. Pieter, our other guitarist and final member, joined us just after Lee. It basically started out with us, creating the music we wanted to hear. So we decided to do it ourselves. We ended up playing our first live gig for the Anti-Socials bikers club (it was a birthday favor for one of our friends, Thanx Alta) and everyone (including us) enjoyed it so much that we just carried on going.In June 2000, Lee decided to leave the band and pursue his own musical career. We needed a new bassist and found a guy called Roelof . Roelof continued to to play bass for the next three years.At the end of 2003 the band decided to take a extended break, due to family commitments and personal issues. Werner later moved away to a coastal town to pursue a promising job opportunity.In 2007 the remainder of the band decide to pick up the torch and continue were they left off. The lack of a voaclaist, however, soon presented itself as a problem. Roelof was the first and obvious choice to assume the vocal responsibilities, as he already knew the songs and did backing vocals on the previous albums. Right.... vocalist, Check! The search for the new bassist was on. Michael Burman, an old friend of the band and long time fan, stepped up to the plate and fitted in perfectly.The band is currently rehearsing and working on new material, with hopes of performing live in early 2008.
