Surge AKA Serge Efremov was born on 18th of March 1978 in Moscow, Russia. When he was only 7 he started taking guitar lessons and became a part of a well know local band when he was 12. At the age of 15 he started to discover electronic dance music by collecting and recording the popular dance beats. A few years later he became a regular attendee of a couple of techno dance night clubs in Moscow. He also listened to several Russian DJs mixing on a dance radio station called 'Station 2000'.
When he turned 17 he moved to the United States. During his college years he was once again exposed to the Club scene and the dance music by regularly attending local club Tom Tom and house parties. His passion for music took him from fan to DJ and the the other side of the decks. He practiced at home and for friends until his skills and the demand for his music reached the promotional level. And, In August of 2002 , shortly after handing one of the owners of the newly-opened club Three his first promo CD, he got his first club gig...getting the party started for Tha Maddoktor.
After that Surge regularly played at leading Milwaukee venues like Pure, Three, Mantra Lounge and Cush, in front of large crowds of party people, DJs and music fans. He is now a well recognized member of Milwaukee club scene.
Surge has released quite a few promotional CDs titled Beyond Control, 212 *F, Dissonance, Spectra, SEX-U-ALL, Juiced, Electrolize, X-Rated. He is also associated with Double Impact Productions (joint venture with Tekken) which released 2 compilation CDs - Power and Digital Adrenaline. Surge was also a featured dj for the well-known "Bald Snapper" compilations series.
In fall 2005 Surge started a new project called EUROFlow at the new European trendy hot spot EURO BAR. This project allows Surge to experiment with the sounds of Vocal House and Dirty Vocal Electro that has been rockin' out the clubs around the world and the dance charts for the last couple of years. Only the freshest, newest, bangin' sounds are played at the EUROFlow. If you don't know what EuroFlow is about...check it out...EUROFlow will ROCK YOU!!!
Another very popular project that Surge is invloved in is "Tha Fury" with Tha Maddoktor. This where the bass takes control of the club. Tha Fury has established itself throughout the years and is now one of the most popular events in the city, based on the attendance and the feedback of the local clubbers. Be Ready for the bass taking control of you right when you walk in the club. It will not let you get off the dance floor, while being directed and surrounded with the grabbing melody and vocals -- the crowd's favorite. Tha Fury moves tha masses!!!
Surge is involved in the promotion of music events throughout town. His mailing list included 100's of people , who he sends the latest updates on the upcoming local club and entertainment events, advertisement of club nights, reviews and other related information.
Surge's vibe is a well-defined sound of energetic-bassy tracks, accented by vocals or attention-grabbing 303s. Whether hard house, electro or vocal house he enjoys the idea of high energy and a bassline that you just can't stop moving to.
Surge now has a major interest in production and is on the verge of producing his first track. Watch out!!
