I'm an avid TV-watcher. I'm a reader. I have a fur kid, Ally. She's 4 and is fawn-colored with a smooshed little Pug face. I love my family. I also love that my friends are my grown-up family. I went to the University of Iowa and majored in English and political science. I've written for newspapers and non-profits. I want to edit novels from home by the time I'm 35. I want to spend the day in my pajamas. I like warm tomatos. I eat the same breakfast every day, but I love to try new food at new restaurants (in new cities when possible). I like to drink. I co-host Drinking Liberally (it's one of my friends - check it out). Come join us on Thursdays. We're there every week.

Reading, cooking, drinking, movies (especially movies about dinosaurs and space), my dog, my family, my friends.

Other cool, liberal-type people to share discussion and debate. Also, old friends.

Music:

Beatles, Barenaked Ladies, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Johnny Cash, John Mayer, Death Cab, Josh Groban, the Dixie Chicks (I make no apologies). But I'll listen to anything once. Except Bjork.

Movies:

Under the Tuscan Sun, Lord of the Rings, Notting Hill, Contact, Armageddon, Finding Nemo, Love Actually. As noted above, I have an inappropriate fascination with movies about space and dinosaurs. I will also watch any movie (no matter how crappy) about the end of the world or mass chaos.

Television:

Law & Order (all three - the original, SVU and CI), Friends, Project Runway, Top Chef, nip/tuck, The Closer, The Simpsons, Iron Chef. I love all things Food Network. And I'm newly hooked on Beauty & the Geek, America's Next Top Model and Top Design. Seriously, when do I have time to do anything else?

Books:

I love books. I am currently reading Shrub by Molly Ivins. I also subscribe to Newsweek and Jane.

Heroes:

I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night...
