The Rockford Mules

Step aside, son.

About Me

Whether by fate or folly, the Rockford Mules is a Minneapolis band. And Minneapolis only because they can practice there for free. They are more of a ‘tater tot hotdish in a dirty Lutheran church basement’ band of Minnesotans than they are your typical popular downtown metrosexual six stringers. Bigger fans of Mad Dog Vishon than of Prince. And proud of it.The Rockford Mules sound simultaneously familiar and foreign. The songs draw on the earthy elements of southern rock and electric mud, infused with a 70’s dirty denim sonic sneer. The lyrics are from a chapped desert hymnal. The drum and bass sound like the gold tooth snarl of a tough loved dog. The guitars have balls that only Goliath dare envy on his bravest day.The Rockford mules were in the top five of many local folks’ “best of 2006“ picks, including Chris Roberts of The Currents “local show” and Drive 105’s HOMEGROWN. Writing and recording has begun for the sophomore follow up to the mule’s 2006 release, “Crooked Tooth”. Tentatively titled, “Step Aside Son”, the spirit, in true mule fashion, continues to turn deeper into itself, striving always to get layers closer to the core of the itch of the flyswatting tail. What once was miles away, is now in the next room.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
