About Me
Iowa reigns as a black hole laying smack dab in the middle of the United States, where most people believe nothing exists except the corn. However, just underneath this peaceful veneer there is a seething frustration and a growing urge to let that frustration out through whatever means necessary... A deep seeded desire to let the world know what kind of secrets the shadows of this all-american landscape have been keeping...
Albino Spiders are a band like no other, with a sound too unique to be summed up into a single category. Their diverse songs showcase the wide range of inluences of each member and take their music into a totally new arena where punk, metal, goth, and industrial collide and are melded into a seamless musical vision. For the members of this band, the lines between these genres are every bit as false as the facade of a peaceful, happy midwestern existence.
Singer/Songwriter Zarrie Solum writes about personal experiences, pouring his heart and soul into each flawless vocal melody. The lyrics paint a stark, vivid picture of pain and frustration; but there is an undertone of hope, strength, and the will to live that begs the listener to realize that they are never alone. His crispy, punchy basslines are the catalyst that gives the songs life. Supported by the frenzied, powerhouse drumming of Derek Dautremont, the formiddable talents of guitarists Josh Darnell and Jeramy Johnson, and accented with haunting keyboard melodies and electronic flourishes, each track is a story who's moral is simple: Rejoice in who you are, dig deep for strength in your darkest hour, and never give in to a world where conformity is considered a virtue.
The Albino Spiders have shared stages with numerous local and national acts (including Vendetta Red, Kill Hannah, 30 Seconds To Mars, Social Distortion, the Misfits, Scatter the Ashes, Motion City Soundtrack, Matchbook Romance, From First To Last, Dope, Suicide Machines, Michale Graves, and then some), creating fans from bands and attendees alike. Their frighteningly intense live performances seem born of a rabid determination to leave a mark and not soon be forgotten after they exit the venue.
With a rapidly growing fan base, well crafted songs, and a sound that crosses every genre of hard music, the Albino Spiders seem poised and prepared to take things to the next level. It may seem quiet in Iowa... but the silence is about to be broken.
