Unlike it was the case with the Police, it was not the drummer, but the band’s guitarplayer Serge “Andy” Hertoge who took the first steps in forming the line-up for this great Police Tribute band, called the C.O.P.S. It was only later that he found out that this four letter name also can stand for the band’s repertoire, “Covers of the Police & Sting”. Serge has been a dedicated guitar session player for years, runs his own recording studio and played with artists like Wim Soutaer, Coco Jr & Biezebaaze. Drummer Joris “Stewart” Peeters also has been around in the Belgian music scene for awhile, working for artists such as Paul Michiels, Raf Van Brussel, Leki and many others. Like many of his collegues, he’s been influenced as a drummer by the great Stewart Copeland himself, especially as his delicate hihat work is concerned. It took awhile before both musicians could lay their hands on a singer/bass player who could handle Sting’s particular high-pitched falsetto notes. Singer/songwriter Steven Miller who has his own successful project “Miller” turned out to be the perfect fit for the job. Being a multi-instrumentalist as well, it didn’t take him too long before mastering the bass and pull of those great Police classics’ basslines. Miller has been active in other projects, mainly in Buadee’s Walkerband. Buadee used to be the frontman of the legendary Reggaeband the Skyblasters. The C.O.P.S. are the Police Tributeband, probably the closest to “the real thing”. Close your eyes and enjoy all the Police’s classics, live and brought by the C.O.P.S. with the same energy and enthusiasm of Sting, Copeland & Summers!
