Robert Hughes Gallery represents a select group of regional, national, and international artists. The gallery artists are primarily mid-career, well established, and recognized in their respective fields. In addition, the gallery represents several emerging artists who possess the maturity and talent exhibited by their predecessors. Also available are a limited number of original works on paper by well known American artists who have contributed to the history of America Art. Examples of these artists are Jim Dine, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, and Robert Motherwell.In conjunction with the collection of contemporary art is a unique selection of handcrafted jewelry. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects the sensibility and distinct direction of each artist. Additionally, the gallery displays an assortment of artifacts from different parts of the world. These pieces have either come from private collections, or from Robert Hughes' travels.Robert Hughes has been an artist for close to thirty years, with a Masters degree in painting. He has exhibited primarily with Harris Gallery in Houston, and with Karan Ruhlen Gallery in Santa Fe. He has been in numerous publications and group exhibitions. In particular, he was selected as one of the artists in “Fresh Paint, The Houston Schoolâ€, curated by Barbara Rose and Susie Kalil. In 1988, he exhibited in Sherry French Gallery, New York, along with Alice Neel, Jack Beal, and Janet Fish.
