About Me
Sleepmachine is a four piece metal/hardcore/funk band from the St Louis, Mo area. It all began in August of 2001 in our drummer's (Diesel) basement in Madison, IL. The first lineup included the 3 founding members HoLT (vocals), Diggy (guitar), and Diesel (drums); along with a second guitarist, Mike Bush and bassist John Margrabe. Due to time restraints and general artistic differences, Mike left the band in early 2002. Sleepmachine continued writing as a four-piece band, though they were still searching for ‘their’ sound. Just as they were coming up with songs that they felt were definitive of their artistic need, John left the band in late 2002, for family oriented reasons.Right place, right time could easily describe the meeting with 2Shay (bass, vocals) in early 2003. While working out in a gym that Holt and Diggy worked at, 2Shay just happened to overhear Holt talking to another individual about their situation. That very same night 2Shay came to practice, and completely AWED them with his slap/pop technique, which has become something of legend in STL since joining the band. His addition to the band opened up many avenues of creativity in which they had been searching for as a band. 2Shay's inventive bass style, Diggy's brutal onslaught, Diesel's apocalyptic drumbeats, and Holt's vocals of disgust have led them to the unique sound you hear today."God Lives...Man Kills...Life Dies"...That is the ‘motto’ Sleepmachine has learned to live by. “Kick ass today, because tomorrow isn’t promised to us, it’s just a possibility,†Sleepmachine quotes day in and day out. This school of thought goes into everything they write and every show they play. The guys have had the honor to share the stage with many national acts such as Soulfly, Mushroomhead, Nothingface, Kittie, Crowbar, Broke, Vampire Moose, Throwdown, Gizmachi, The Calico System, Hemlock, The Heavils, Bloodsimple, Silent Civilian, Saint Diablo, Humans Factors Lab, Within Chaos.If you ever see them live, prepare to have your face ripped off!..
