In the winter of 2005 Rust set about recording their first demo at Melbourne Records with 3 tight, crunching songs. Having played in a few pubs and festivals around Melbourne, they were now set on unleashing their brand of old-school metal riffs with progressive rock underlays. Drawing upon a fusion of their teenage heroes and modern influences they successfully played venues such as Revolver and the Evelyn.
August 2006 saw the departure of Andrew Gale on bass and the introduction of Matthew Thompson, bringing with him a love of Sevendust, raw energy, and the live show. Equipped with this new found energy Rust recorded their second demo over the 2006-7 summer. Although emulating the likes of Metallica, Pantera and Godsmack the band also melded the likes of Dream Theater and Sevendust to produce an accomplished and original sound that is Rust. With the first song blasting you away this demo encapsulates Rust’s sound: metal, melodic and in your face!
Rust live is an experience filled with tight performances and the ever classic powerhouse, head banging riff that is Rust. Armed with these attributes Rust has successfully blasted Central Club, Noise Bar, Gertrude Band Room, Pony, The Laundry and Dream to enthusiastic audiences. With their combined passion for their music, live gigs and the live music scene in Melbourne, Rust is an up and coming 4-piece metal band that is a hard act to follow! You have been marked on my profile map!
