DJ George Rodriguez

DJ George Rodriguez has been a part of SW Florida's music scene since the early 90's. His blend of styles and rhythms let him express his true passion and love for music...and in turn is able to share this vibe with others. George was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Virginia, before his family relocated to Florida. His musical background started at age 8 when he began playing the trumpet and french horn. His exploration of music quickly opened the door for a love of all aspects of music and styles. As an adolescent he would begin to collect vinyl records and bought his first turntable at age 14 with money he earned while delivering newspapers. He started his DJ career at an ice skating rink, the Ice Chateau, in Oct. '93 in Nokomis, FL and stayed with them when they moved locations as the Venice Ice Pavillion in Venice, FL. In the meantime he began his residency at Club X (Bumpers) in Sarasota, FL in May of '96 (under the promotion of Ron Butine) and handled both the rink and the club until June '99, where he began playing at H.G. Roosters on Siesta Key (under Tom McKenzie, manager) until they closed their doors in November '99. In March of 2000 he began his residency at Therapy Night Club in Sarasota, FL and has had the pleasure of working with many local talents such as Lindsay Carlton, 6-Pak, Trixxxie and Lady M! He spun at Pridefest '04 and was at the main stage at Pridefest '05. He was the resident DJ at Fire at Club Heat in Bradenton from Oct. '03 through Oct. '05. Throughout his career, he's also has the privlidge of working with well known artists such as Kim English, Vernessa Mitchell, Robin Fox and Shannon. He has been a resident locally at Coliseum in Bradenton, FL and at Witness Cafe. In addition, he has worked at many Tampa area clubs including Club Chambers, the re-openeing of Tracks, Drama @ Club Underground and Flirt Nightclub. In Watermark's Magazine's 2004 4th Annual WAVE Awards, George was voted the #2 male DJ in Sarasota, FL and was tied at #3 in the Tampa Market. In addition he was voted the #2 male DJ in Sarasota in the 5th Annual WAVE awards in 2005! He has DJ'd at many other area clubs including Fly in Sarasota FL, DaVinci's Ultra Lounge @ Minxx in Sarasota FL, Key Club in Hudson FL, and most recently at Club Escapes on Thursday Nights in Sarasota, FL. His blend of House Music and Top 40/Dance has many SW Florida party goers happy!
