Do we really need a revival of GeoCities ? Those fucking annoying banners and popups. But the ads have now been drowned out by a kaleidoscope of colorful text , freaky fonts , flashing gifs , deafening jukeboxes , and mind-numbing vid-clips ! Myspace has turned the Net into, to quote Neal Stephenson , "a dozen Manhattans, embroidered with neon and stacked on top of each other." Myspace is beyond lame, but I've had a nagging feeling that it was somehow sinister too. My extremely mild investigations have confirmed that yes, myspace isn't just dumb, it's evil .
In July 2005 News Corporation bought Myspace for $580 million. News Corp is controlled by Rupert Murdoch , a real bastard . News Corp is one of the six largest conglomerates in the mass media oligopoly . Together with Disney, Viacom, Time Warner, Bertelsmann, and General Electric they own 90% of the media market. Rupert Murdoch has his fingers in a lot of fucking cookie jars; over 30 newspapers including the New York Post, HarperCollins Publishers, TV Guide, over 30 local TV stations, DirectTV, 20th Century Fox, and a dozen cable channels including Fox News .
That's right Fox "News", the bastion of right-wing spin. These cocksuckers actually have the nerve to call themselves " Fair and Balanced ", as if the moderate right-wing media(New York Times, CNN) some how have a liberal bias. This is surely the most flagrant use of doublespeak yet! Fox News is eroding what little integrity our media may have had by replacing journalists with talking heads that call themselves pundits . The alpha pundit is a hate filled sack of meat called Bill O'Reilly . If you don't think that's reason enough to revile News Corp watch Outfoxed . Myspace doesn't do anything that can't be done better by something else anyway. First off, the Net is not your fucking locker from junior high! Show a little sense and restraint . Now lets talk about solutions. If your messages to your friends are as long as this fucking rant you should be using email , I use gmail (Google promises not to be evil , we'll see...) If you want to chat , again, gmail can do that. For IM apps I like Gaim and Fire . You want to keep a journal , memoir , or blog ? Do it. You say you want to scrawl graffiti on other people's sites and bitch a lot ? By all means, get a fucking hobby and join the applicable forum. Or start you own damn forum . You really just want to vomit your camera's memory card onto the Net? Done . Jackass wannabes ? Or are you an attention whore ? If you really want the whole fucking supersized combo meal you'll have to suck it up and get your learn on !
