i'm interested in getting inside the minds of people. i want to know what makes us the screwed up people that we are. i want to know why nobody is excluded from being screwed up in their own way and why each of us thinks we are. i want to know what people really think... not just what they say. i want to know what they really feel, and why they portray an image that is so often not accurate of what is truly inside them. i want to know what makes people do the things they do, say the things they say, look the way they look. i want to know it all. that, i imagine, would not be a good thing, but i want it.
now, for the slightly more normal interests, i'd have to pick the obvious. music, learning (oh that learning is high on my list!), relaxing, reading, jiu jitsu, arguing, work, progress, improvement, making things, playing the piano, singing (yeah, apparently i'm a singer now. works for me), cooking, exercising, swimming, beaching, cruising, and anything else that can occupy my time.
i'm in a slightly misanthropic state of mind right now, so most of my interests are focused on not being around people. that is very okay with me. perhaps i'll change one day. perhaps i've finally learned my lesson. i wonder how much that makes me contradict myself. i want to be alone but i want to get in people's minds. weird. anyway, if you want to know more, read on. thanks for visiting.
people like me. if there are any...

This song is also known as "THE LOVE SONG"...someday that waterbed will be filled up for that special someone! Till then...stop dating those snuff queens!

i've got the weirdest pull to movies with a theme of unrequited love, or love that just can't happen for whatever reason. i'm not sure why, but those rank high in my list of favorites. with that in mind, romeo and juliet, the bodyguard, the ghost and mrs. muir, and breaking the waves top my list of the movies i could watch again and again and again. other favorites: a beautiful mind; a clockwork orange; american beauty; badder santa; blow; casablanca; dogma; eternal sunshine of the spotless mind; fight club; finding nemo; the island of the lost souls; the little mermaid; master and commander; midnight in the garden of good and evil; napoleon dynamite; office space; palindromes; pay it forward; the princess bride; the ref; reservoir dogs; the harder they fall; threesome; trainspotting; true grit; wilde; and again, the list goes on and on. i like comedies, dramas, adventure, foreign, westerns (a lot!), and really scary movies.
i can spend an entire day watching tv, but i hardly ever do. i have one that sits next to me at work that i could watch... but i hardly ever do. when i do watch it, my favorites are m*a*s*h, x-files, nypd blue, beverly hills 90210 (yes, really), ally mcbeal (my biggest tv vice), hgtv, and some sort of good music channel. i like the history and discovery channels though i don't spend as much time with them as i'd like because i just don't have the time and patience to sit through the many many shows they have that interest me. i love watching scrubs, jeopardy, wheel of fortune, the simpsons, that 70's show, and malcom in the middle but they're never on at a good time for me. i watch a lot of baseball, football, nascar, and a few other good quality sport events, and when the olympics are on, i do not leave my television. i guess that might classify as my second greatest tv vice.
i love books so much. all kinds of them. i think the two greatest books i've ever read are the lovely bones which i would recommend to everybody, and girl interrupted. i was almost disappointed with the movie simply because it just couldn't grasp all the little oddities of the book. i would be willing to bet that most people will start to doubt themselves and their own sanity after reading that. my favorite authors include stephen king, chuck palahniuk, herman wouk, henry david thoreau, emily dickinson, oscar wilde, shakespeare, max lucado, pepper schwartz, shel silverstein, and edgar allan poe. i have this book that has a little summary of the 100 greatest books of all time. i'm gonna read every single one of those 100 books. i'll be reading for a while, but it's gonna be so much fun. i just started on the first one. there are a few that i've already read, but i'm gonna do them again too. 100 books. that's a lot. alright, update: i just finished the greatest book i've ever read. i swear. it's a chuck palahniuk book, the forth one i've read, and i'm blown away. invisible monsters. crazy good if you're in to him and his very unique style. best. seriously. better than fight club which was my favorite of his before this. man...
marine corps sgt and firefighter brian dunlap. that dear, sarcastic, and hilarious man has paid the ulitmate sacrifice. he is a hero. he is a defender of our country. brian, we will never forget you. thank you for all you did to touch and to protect so many of us.
my greatest heros are firefighters, police officers, and those that serve in the military. that people are willing to lay down their lives if necessary for people that they will never even meet, and worse yet, people that don't even care, amazes me. they're the truest stud-muffins of our society.
