Clutter and mess show us that life is being lived

About Me

You can usually find me with my nose buried deep in a new book every other week. I'm a book whore and am loyal to no one genre...hey this agnostic enjoys Francine Rivers who is a christian writer. Writing is something I feel I must do and have done so since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I communicate better with the written word than spoken word..ask my hubby who has drawers full of letters. Right now I'm on a memoir kick and just finished reading both Augusten Burroughs' books (Running w/ Scissors and Dry), Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown, Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis, Darkness Visible by William Styron and many others. I'm finally going after my dream of becoming a published author and am relocating to the NYC area in the near future (pending job!!!). I am originally from NY and have always felt NYC was THE city to live for writers. Hope to network with other writers in the NYC area and can't wait to start this new chapter of our life! retro layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com

My Interests

Reading, writing, painting, watching my girls dance and sing, spending time with my husband, walking in the rain and noticing the little things in life like the early morning dew drops on the grass.

I'd like to meet:

Joyce Carol Oates, Carolyn See, Anne Lamott, Augusten Burroughs,Gabriel Garcia Marquez, William Styron(RIP), Stephen King...pretty much all writers both well known & unknown...All creative people who make their own rules and cannot stand working in a structured environment...people who risked it all to make their dreams come true...people who dare to ask, WHY???

Music:

Music is a huge part of me! Pretty much everything I write is done while listening to music. I love Everything and Anything in between.....Even some Country!! Hell, I sing along to commercials so anything with a good tune I'll dig. My iPod is filled with songs from Britney Spears to Cannibal Corpse. I also love discovering unsigned bands on MySpace. That's one of the best features.

Movies:

To the Lighthouse, The Exorcist, On Golden Pond, Mr. Smith goes to Washington, Fight Club, Sylvia..list could go on and on..I love movies as long as there is an actual story and not just fluff and crap...

Television:

I don't watch too much television anymore (once people started eating live insects and lighting each other on fire for money, TV lost its appeal) but if I do, its pretty much cable only..Real Time, Sex & The City, Discovery Health, Six Feet Under, Dexter, Carnival, VH1 and sometimes the Style Network.

Books:

Like my music, I love all types of books. Way too many to list but some of my favorite writers include Anne Lamott, William Styron, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath, Franz Kafka, Anton Chekhov, William Blake, Anne Sebold, Jane Green, Augusten Burroughs, Joyce Carol Oates, and many many more. I'm a literary nerd who will practically read anything once. I'm the type that reads the shampoo bottles while using the bathroom...

Heroes:

I bear no false idols....but if I had to choose, I would have to say anyone who started with nothing in life and worked hard to succeed in life at their chosen path and/or goals. Examples would be Oprah, Madonna, Bill Clinton...etc...If you are one of those people I admire you as well.
