We were born in Sherman Oaks, California, We started our acting careers on the television series Full House in 1987. We both played one character, Michelle Tanner, taking turns during the tapings to do so, in order to comply with child labor laws. Because the producers did not want viewers to know that Michelle was played by twins, We were originally credited as "Mary Kate Ashley Olsen", but later we got credited as separate people.

Shortly after the end of Full House, we returned to the entertainment industry, riding the momentum of our role on Full House by heavily merchandising our image. Taking the world of pre-teens and children by storm, Our names have become a very profitable industry, with our likeness seen in movies, posters, magazines, clothes, and even video games like Mary Kate and Ashley's Magical Mystery Mall.

Today we are still popular figures in the pre-teen market.We starred in The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley and the ABC show Two of a Kind (now rerun on ABC Family), as well as ABC Family's So Little Time. We also have our own book series.

On June 22, 2004, Mary-Kate entered a rehabilitation program for the eating disorder anorexia nervosa. on July 7, we cancelled our participation in the Got Milk campaign, mainly due to Mary-Kate's illness. The ad in which we would have appeared read, in part: "we want our fans to be healthy", and we do!

We received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 29, 2004. We are the youngest celebrities to receive this honor. Thanks to our fans, we love you guys!

In 2004 we decided we would be attending college after graduating high school. Most child and teenage actors usually choose to pursue acting full time after graduating from high school, with few (such as Brooke Shields, Jodie Foster, Julia Stiles, and Natalie Portman) choosing to further their education. Ashley decided to major in psychology, Mary-Kate in photography

We both studied at New York University at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study but Mary-Kate just recently decided she wanted to pursue other goals.

In February of 2005, Ashley was featured on the cover of National Enquirer, a gossip magazine that claimed that she was using drugs. Ashley announced on February 14 that she was suing the company for about $40 million for making that claim. Which is totally untrue.

We are currently (as of March 2005) going through some turmoil, living separately and hardly seeing each other. We are both doing internships for credit, Mary-Kate with photographer Annie Leibovitz, and Ashley with fashion designer, Zac Posen.

We recently ranked at number three on the VH1 program 100 Greatest Child Stars.Alot of people say they can't tell us apart but here is how, Ashley is 5 foot 3 , Mary-Kate is 5 foot 2, Ashley is left handed, Mary-Kate is right handed, Ashley's eyes are Green-Blue, Mary-Kate's are Moreso Green-Blue (girls know the differance)
