Got forked in the road

About Me

I'm an honest, loyal, hard-working simple girl who's -- pardon the cliche, but it's very true -- down to earth. "Genuine" is an adjective I get often, likely because I have a low tolerance of social games. I call it like I see it (or if I have no real opinion, I can keep my mouth shut, too) and I refuse to pretend to be anything but who I am -- to do otherwise is unhealthy.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to reconnect with old friends and maybe meet some new ones.

Music:

Pop, Rock, Country -- David Lee Murphy is my all-time favorite; also some cheesy stuff like John Denver, James Taylor, the Carpenters. I've got other musical skeletons in my closet but won't reveal them to just anybody.

Movies:

For some reason, I'm drawn to movies about high school -- Can't Hardly Wait, Saved, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Senior Trip. Also like weirdo movies where there are a bunch of seemingly unrelated characters that come to intertwine by movie's end, ala Happiness, 200 Cigarettes and Four Rooms. I mostly like comedies, I guess. Oh, and anything directed by Robert Rodriguez.

Television:

I LOVE TV, although they always cancel my favorite shows and let shit like, well, anything on CBS, stay on forever. Some current faves: "Deadwood," "Entourage," "The Comeback" and "Cathouse" on HBO; "Malcolm in the Middle;" "King of the Hill;" "Desperate Housewives;" "Arrested Development;" "ER;" "That 70s Show" and "Will & Grace." Other shows I love that either expired or were yanked from broadcast prematurely: "Quantum Leap;" "Grounded for Life;" "Wonderfalls;" "Titus;" "Freaks and Geeks;" "That 80s Show;" "Dear John;" "Moonlighting;" "Cybil;" "Happy Family;" "Wanda at Large;" "The Norm Show;" "Friends;" "Seinfeld;" "Ellen;" "Nurses" and "Get Real."

Books:

Memoirs of a Geisha, by Arthur Golden; I Know This Much is True, by Wally Lamb; Little Altars Everywhere and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, by Rebecca Wells (the movie totally sucked ass; read the book); The Master Butchers Singing Club, by Louise Erdrich; The Light at the End of the World, by Lorraine Dopson; and anything I can get my hands on by Poppy Z. Brite.

Heroes:

Just about anyone who has more ambition than I do. Kariann --
