THE HABIT

What up, what up!! The music you hear comes from a combination of many styles and influences. A smooth blend of fresh roasted flows, sweetened with melodic goodness.. My Habit is music and music is my soul mate.. I began my musical journey at age 13.. My brother leaned a black Ibanez (that he won in a poker game) against the wall for me to find Christmas morning. Thanks Hendren!! It was that same Christmas day that we found out the fateful news of our beautiful cousin (killed by a drunk driver).. As the door opened for me musically, the door closed for my cousin who was adored by all who knew her.. I was inspired to excel musically as a way for me to cope with this tremendous loss.. So once again my brother came through for me and hooked it up on some guitar lessons from Mark Bascilla (local bad ass from the jazz group Speed of Sound).. As I was learning the basics of guitar my freshman year in high school, me and some friends would spend our weekends rapping in a makeshift studio in Alpine (boon docks of SD).. Sponsored by the now defunct ELP (jk kidding Eric) , who's mom gave him money to buy every new rap cd that came out each Tuesday, I proceeded learn how to freestyle and write rhymes with a couple other friends... At the same time however I would go home throughout the week and try to rap/sing (aka flow) while playing the guitar... This eventually led me to my style today... The Habit has been a one man project for the past 3 years until recently when I hooked up with a couple cool cats that are easy going and fun to jam with... We are currently working on our debut album.. I am also currently working with two other groups as well... the first is a hip hop group known as The Gooneez .. I will be featured on their upcoming album "The Key to One-Eyed Willy" due out this fall ('07)...the second is The Freaks N' Me...We call ourselves that because the three of us make our living by way of strip clubs and we work with a bunch of FREAKS!!! This band is a trio including Seth (guitar/vox), Black (bass/vox), and yours truly (drums/vox)...So if you dig the sounds and you want more don't hesitate to add me.......the best is yet to come...
