More VideosTHE GOONEEZ LIVE @ HOUSE OF BLUES ON SUNSET 2/11/08-Looking for a breath of fresh air in a world of music that has gone stale and unoriginal? Well look no further, southern California based hip-hop group The Gooneez are the next big thing you might not know about. Andre Abella and Frank Clark make-up The Gooneez, two cousins who started making music in 2003 as a hobby to pass the time. “We recorded our first demo with a $20 mic, a rewriteable disc and a 4-track recorder,” Abella recalls, “it didn’t sound too good when we first started recording, but the music we created rose above the quality and people connected with the topics we were talking about.” With that attitude, The Gooneez have built their fan base & buzz over the years the old-fashioned way. Flooding the internet with material from their albums Never Say Die & The Key to One-Eyed Willie LP and their mixtape series Outside lookin’ In. Displaying their original delivery and concept filled lyrics they have sold over 2000 copies independently with their projects. Also performing consistently on the Hollywood music scene for the past two years, their resume’ includes The House of Blue Sunset, Key Club, and The Knitting Factory respectively. Priding themselves on their live show, this duo says their stage presence has set them apart from any other new up-incoming artist. “We understand that new fans who might have not seen us perform before might be in the crowd,” Clark expresses, ” we go hard on stage and hope that after seeing us live, we leave an impression that lasts after the show to create new interest in our music.” The Gooneez have recently recorded their new demo EP at legendary Studio West in San Diego working with certified engineer Kellogg Broxton. They have displayed their versatility on this project, combining bass-heavy pure hip-hop productions with unique street hooks on songs like “Fresh” and “Swaggin’”. At the same time showing their commercial song writing ability with the songs “Everything,” and “Ima Do My Thang.” 2009 is looking promising for The Gooneez. With their promoters Sean Healy Presents pairing them up with major artists on stage in the entertainment capitol of the world, and a major sponsor with 187 Inc. Clothing who will spread their music & name all across the country to potential fans, their hype will surely continue to grow. The Gooneez next project is their highly anticipated mixtape "The Bones Brigade are Dazed and Confused" which is scheduled to be released early June. This project will be the first major project for the groups new website thegooneez.com, where it will be available for free digital download along with Gooneez merchandise. “Our goal this year is to gain a relationship with a record label who believes in us and our music, and ultimately become a successful movement for a long time to come.” Both boys say with confidence but yet humbleness as well. “We feel blessed to be in the position we are right now, we love making hip-hop music, we wanna be great.”--WE REP 187 INC.
