Francis Dominic Nicholas Michael Rossi was born on the 29th may,1949 in Forest Hill, South London. Francis was named after St Francis of Assisi, the founder of the catholic franciscan order. He lives in Surrey England with his wife Eileen and his eight children from two marriages.
Francis is the co-founder of Status Quo where he sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar. Within the music business Francis is a highly rated guitarist and is know for his long partnership with his best friends Rick Parfitt and his co-writer Bob Young. Today Francis is affectionally know as, 'GOMORR', The Grand Old Man Of Rock 'n' Roll.
Taking time out from Status Quo, Francis has worked on albums by other artists including, Demis Roussos and Graham Bonnett. He also has produced his own solo album, 'King Of The Doghouse', which produced a top 50 hit with 'Give Myself To Love'. He also recorded two singles with Bernie Frost in 1985, one of which was entitled, 'Modern Romance'. He has recently produced an album with his daughter Bernadette, entitled 'Bernadette', and has worked on 2 other albums, for Paul Camilleri, and an up-and-coming band called Macara, who supported Quo at Petworth House on July 6th 2007. Francis also co-produced material for a band called, 'Little Egypt'. The band is fronted by Rossi's son Nicholas. They were formed in 1991 and are still rocking today. They have also supported Status Quo on their UK tour. They decided to work with seasoned engineer Tim Summerhayes who co-produced the material with Francis. The completed material was released on their debut album, ' Eyes of the World' which was issued by the german company CBH records.
Francis Rossi is an out-and-out family man who enjoys time at home with his family when he is not touring. He also enjoys pastimes such as, Clay Pigeon Shooting, swimming and visiting his local gym and garden centre.
