My auntie Margaret O’ Gorman would spend her day singing; Once in a while I would hear her sing "The Fields of Athenry", this song I learned quiet quickly. I would learn songs from an old record collection from my grandfather. (Joseph Carroll worked in Kelly's foundry in Portlaoise town) There was a piece of everything there, I remember the Dubliners (There's life in the old dog yet) ... :-), Paddy Reilly, Wolftones. I remember one summer holiday coming home from my aunt Bridget’s singing "just remember the red river valleys". From there it has been a fantastic blend of Irish Country and Traditional IrishI went to work a summer in Lisdoonvarna the Burren Castle Hotel; I had the best time of my life in the sessions around Clare, Cliffs of Mohair.
