The founder of Kameelah’s Closet, Valerie Muhammad, was frustrated that she could rarely find beautiful modest clothing for her four year old daughter, Kameelah, to wear. Mrs. Muhammad, located in Houston, TX, was so fed up with the selections in department stores that she started making clothes that were modest and age appropriate for Kameelah. Kameelah’s Closet was born when she found herself constantly going into Kameelah’s closet to recreate designs to help other mothers in her area dress their girls.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Those who sick and tired of looking for appropriate clothes for your adolescent girl only to find knock-offs from Paris Hilton’s or Brittany Spears’ closet? If that’s not how you want your daughter to dress then Project Modesty may be the answer for you.“Project Modesty is my solution to the need to dress our children in designs that are modest and appropriate. Our girls should look attractive and not dress to attract. This is a contest for girls, age 14-24, who have the creativity to design modest apparel that reflects them and their taste. I want to see their ideas and I will have the winning design tailor made to fit the designer.”Valerie Muhammad, the owner of Kameelah’s Closet, received so many requests for garments for adolescent girls that she came up with the idea for the contest. “I think we need modest designs “for them, by them,” says Mrs. Muhammad. “This is their opportunity to let us know what they really like.”“Project Modesty will clothe our girls with the garments that will reflect their beauty and culture without being tight, revealing or skimpy. Most designers for girls are not girls nor do they love our girls and want to see them respected.”beautiful
