About Me

I live a double life, balancing my corporate job in strategic planning during the day and rushing home at night to work on music (house). I'm very passionate about it and quite fortunate to have the opportunity to DJ on the weekends at Basic, a club night that I throw with some friends, Giant, and Vanguard, where I'm a resident DJ with my partner-in-crime, Justin Gourley. Recently we've launched a new radio show on Proton Radio called Basic Frequencies:
Basic Frequencies presents a slice of Los Angeles to the wired world. On the 3rd Friday of each month, Justin Gourley and I, the show's host, will showcase handpicked selections of contemporary grooves from 12-3pm PST. In addition to the artists from the burgeoning California scene, the show will regularly include various musical guests from around the globe, bringing varied and sometimes suprising flavours to the table. Edgy, fun, and warm. Cutting edge with a nod to old favourites. Don't miss your exclusive chance to hear the latest and greatest from LA!

My Interests

I love creativity in all forms, music, music production, vinyl records, fashion (i need to learn how to sew), art (especially photography), yoga, snowboarding, cooking (especially for my friends), producing dance music, djing, analyzing everything and most of all my family and friends (i have the greatest).I hate music piracy (it's stealing, no matter how you look at it), bigotry, the chupacabre, and the fact that we can't find big foot or the loch ness monster.

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent and open-minded people, especially those who are creative and passionate about music. IF YOU WANT TO BE ADDED, PLEASE AT LEAST SEND ME A MESSAGE INTRODUCING YOURSELF. AND IF WE DONT' TALK OR HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON AFTER I'VE ADDED YOU, THEN I WILL DELETE YOU. IT'S NOT ABOUT QUANTITY, IT'S ABOUT QUALITY.

Music:

Although I was late to the music game, I'm a huge fan of electronic dance music, especially funky house music. Although, I kinda feel like a one-trick poney lately, so I'm trying my best to listen to other genres and bands. Some of my favorite DJs, producers are Deep Dish (when they play in Miami - they just don't do it for me when to play in LA), Desyn Masiello, Miguel Migs, Kaskade, Inland Knights, Chab, Josh Wink, Francois K, Chris Lum, DJ Three, Hisham Samawi, Ellen Ferrato, Nic Fanciulli, Mazi, Paolo Mojo and the LA locals who in my opinion are just as good, if not better than most of the Int'l and US DJs. I really respect what guys like Justin Gourley, Larry Kahm, Hoang Luu, Adam Hagen, John Day, Daniel Djang, Michael Scot, Josh Abrams, The Wax guys, ROAM crew, and the countless other DJs/producers are doing to foster the musical scene in LA.

Movies:

The Royal Tennenbaums (My all time favorite movie), Rushmore, Napolean Dynamite, Sideways, Human Traffic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Old School, Sniper, Apocalypse Now, and Mean Girls.

Television:

I try not to watch TV, but when I need to vegetate, I prefer The Apprentice, CNN, and most of the shows on the cooking channel.

Books:

Lately, it seems that all I have time to read are the manuals to Logic 7 Pro, the music production software that I use, and a book on Music Theory. Although, I did get a chance to read The Da Vinci Code recently and thought it was quite interesting. Some favorites from my past include The Sun Also Rises, The Great Gatsby, Men are Mars Women are From Venus (does that make me enlightened?), Kitchen Confidential, and A&R.

Heroes:

Mom and Dad, and Yoda
