Don't die with the music still in you.

About Me

My name is Max D. Zimmerman - homosapien, reverend, musician, outlaw journalist, poet, naturalist, philosopher, grease monkey, aspiring collegiate, footloose American...etc. Jah...

My Interests

Jazz, nature, philosophy and such, you, funk, good movies, science, comics, hip-hop, poetry, history, culture, meditation (however you may do it), live recording, the kitchen sink, and the cosmos.

I'd like to meet:

Someone who will teach me.

Music:

I dabble in bass, guitar, sax...but my heartbeat tells me I was born to drum, so I'm on drums whenever Joey or Mike allows it. As far as music I listen to, it's impossible to limit to a list or genre, but I've got jazz in my bones, along with hip-hop, and pretty much anything that's close to my frequency, makes me giggle, or gets my ass shakin'. Shiiiiiiitt...Ween, MedeskiMartin&Wood, Madlib, Coltrane, Mr. Bungle, Phish, Zappa, Skerik's, moe., Del, Primus, Weezer, Tom Waits, Miles Davis, Fishbone, Madeleine Peyroux, Mars Volta, Bad Brains, Fantomas, Pharcyde, Bad Plus, They Might Be Giants, yadda, yadda, yadda... ** Latest Dig: "Frank's Wild Years" by Tom Waits **

Movies:

Cheesy horror (i.e. "Evil Dead Trilogy"..."Dead Alive"..."The Stuff"), documentary, Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater, Charlie Kaufman, Kevin Smith, John Waters, well-done comic book movies, and lots of other genius stuff. ** Latest Dig: "Harold & Maude" for the first time in a while **

Television:

TV SUCKS!!! When I do get my couchpotato on, though...The Office, Ali G, Scrubs, IFC sometimes, Daily Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Adult Swim, Discovery/History/National Geographic/Science Channel...etc.

Books:

Comics, history, philosophy, Whitman, Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Robbins, Bukowski, spiritual, creative, political, nature...etc. ** Latest Dig: "A Moveable Feast" by Ernest Hemmingway**

Heroes:

Pan, Barth (I wouldn't exactly say "hero"...), MMW, Walt Whitman, Tom Robbins, Bukowski, Tanuki, Chris McCandless, Mr. Schlosser, Sacha Baron Cohen, Hunter Thompson, John Belushi, the Phish ensemble, Chuck & Rob (moe.), Dean & Gene Ween, and all the other musicians and peeps who make me happy and amaze me daily.
