About Me
Joe Caro is a guitarist/singer/composer, born and raised in New York City. He got his first guitar at the age of eight. Early influences included the British Invasion, then on to Jimi Hendrix and The Cream. Soon after, he became interested in Jazz. Miles Davis, John Coltrane and all the great Jazz Guitarists being main influences. At 18 he started working in the NYC recording studios and touring with Jazz and Rock/Pop artists in the US, Japan and Europe. He has recording with many diverse artists such as Bette Midler, Blue Öyster Cult, Carly Simon, Dr. John, Michael Franks, Bobby McFerrin, Gato Barbieri, Michael McDonald, Fania Allstars, Chaka Khan, Irene Cara, Candido, Randy Brecker, Austrid Gilberto, Hank Crawford, Michael Urbaniak and many more. He has toured extensively with the likes of… Dr. John, Herbie Mann, Carly Simon /James Taylor, Gato Barbieri, Michael Franks, Akiko Yano, played live and on TV for Jon Bongiovi ,Clint Black, Ashford and Simpson , Crosby, Still and Nash, Roberta Flack,The Eagles, Brookes and Dunn, Sheryl Crow, Olivia Newton-John, James Taylor, Lenny Kravitz, Micheal McDonald, Aretha Franklin, Willie Dixon, Big Joe Turner, KD Lang, Stanley Clarke, Steve Miller, Phoebe Snow, Johnny Mathis, Luther Vandross, has appered with various artists and in the house bands on TV shows “The Late Show with David Lettermanâ€, Saturday Night Live and The Grammy Awards…and done countless recording sessions for TV Commercials and Movies….In the 90’s he formed BFD with Drummer Steve Ferrone and Bassist Will Lee doing the NYC Club circut with live shows that featured guest artists such as Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald, Pat Metheny, The Brecker Brothers, and Felix Cavaieri of the Young Rascals. That association produced the CD “BFD†(released on Iguana records in the US and Pony Canyon in Japan) and featured guests artists, The Breckers Dave Sanborn, Ralph McDonald and Paul Shaffer… ….Later on, he formed “The Real Deal†with Trumpeter Chris Botti, Saxman Lenny Pickett, Late show Drummer Anton Fig and keyboardist Chris Palmaro, performing every Tuesday night at the NYC club, The Metropolitan Café. What started out as a 2 week gig, went on for 8 years and became the home base for many NYC session musicians at a time when New York music clubs were far and few. In ‘06 came Acid Reign, a group which plays the music of Jimi Hendrix exclusively, and features the powerful vocals of Sophia Ramos. He is currently based on the island of Maui, Hawaii and occasionally tours the mainialnd. Most recently he brought “A New York Minuteâ€, an all star cast featuring Jazz great Randy Brecker, Ada Rovati, Steve Ferrone, Keyboardist George Whitty and bassist Tony Levin to tour the Hawaiian islands…He drinks espresso and sleeps mostly at night now.
