I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Let's see, I have friends in one of two camps, those who are like, "why the hell aren't you on myspace" and those are like "how the hell do you have time for myspace". Clearly the former won out. I am busy, running for Senate in Louisiana (i still believe public service is noble), running my development firm and grinding out some chips, working on rebuilding my mom's house destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and staying on my other commitments. On top of that we're getting a little traction on an entertainment venture (the whole entertainment thing is new to me)that's way cool, but takes up beacoup time.I'm in "space" to meet some down folks, garner a few votes, raise some dough, and get as many people to come down to the Post-K N. O. as possible. I love talking politics, cooking, and especially entertaining out of town friends visiting the City, cause we have such an over the top time and they ALWAYS love it when they're here and hate it when they're leaving (a couple have even decided to stay). There's plenty money to be made, lot's of fun to be had, and some charity to give. I am focused and can be serious (business stuff) but I am VERY laid back and apparently very funny (i get that at least once a week). I make a great FIRST impression, but SECOND, THIRD, etc. are even better. I am certain of a defined purpose for my life and push for discovery of it everyday. So check me out.........

My Interests

Cooking (name it & I can whip it or I'll come up with something better), entertaining at the house, politics, development & architecture, personal style (i'm a clothes horse, especially shoes), public service, biographies, reading (mags, Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Times Pic -all daily),travel (one trip abroad annually), contemporary and folk art,HBO Series. Just starting to get into antiques.Wine (currenlty Malbec's and Viogniers)

I'd like to meet:

Get back to you on that one.....

Music:

All types. Nothing really turns me off. Actually except TECHNO. Drives me insane.

Movies:

Shawshank, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction (not sure if its a favorite but can't turn it off when it is on), The Narc, this French Movie with english subtitles (saw it on a flight back from Europe) crudely translated into "The Jackass at Dinner" it was the funniest movie I've seen. I had my headphones on and was constantly laughing out loud.

Television:

Anything on HBO, save John From Cincinatti. That's whack to me, they should have stuck with Deadwood. The next best thing on HBO will be Tell Me You Love Me (an unfiltered story taking a look at sex in marriage). I have gotten into TOP CHEF as of late.

Books:

I read so much, I do't know if I can come up with a favorite so I'll go 01. Best recently read - "OneBig Self" by CD Wright (It is about the prison-industrial complex) 02. Currently reading - "The Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan ( It is about food but not really about food, it is a book about theories, theories of everything, life, etc. it is brilliant) 03. Book I'll try to read next - "The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable" by Taleb (about our blindless to the randomness of life)

Heroes:

Pop's - CLARENCE L. BARNEY; that's it, wonderful man who was my best friend, mentor, and the example of a man and father. Lost him a couple of days before Katrina hit. Left me the wonderful gift of a name BARNEY to uphold, and leave better than when I got it. Daily reminder to live my life as an inspiration as best I possibly can.
