Musician (bass player), producer, arranger and composer. I'm 53 years old and I work professionaly in the music bussines for 30 years. I may be more known for the work I have been doing for the last ten years - playing and recording with the portuguese band Madredeus wich I quit recently - but I have done a number of other things like producing and performing with many other portuguese artists such as the group Trovante (a member until the end), the group Resistência, Sérgio Godinho, Fausto, José Mário Branco, Janita Salomé, Júlio Pereira... Recently, with the guitarrist José Peixoto, a coleague from Madredeus, we formed the group SAL with percussionist Vicky and the fado singer Ana Sofia Varela. The first record (SAL) came out in March 2007. In 2002 we recorded a duet just with acoustic guitar and bass Carinhoso dedicated to the music of the brazilian composer Pixinguinha the great master of Chorinho. In this work we made a very personal aproach to the brazilian Chorinho. The record was very well received by the public and critic, one of the 10 best CD's of that year, they said. It's an instrumental record that has the colaboration of singers Maria João, Manuela Azevedo and LuÃs Represas, my coleague from Trovante, in three Chorinhos. I also have produced quite a number of records. Among them I would only mention "Raiano" from the author/singer Janita Salomé, "Mano a Mano" from the group Resistência, "Histórias de Amor e Mar" from the pop group Ritual Tejo, "Aprender a Ser Feliz" from the group Pólo Norte and "Post Scriptum from the string quartet Corvos. Nowadays I am performing and working in the develepment of SAL, composing new music and preparing a tour for late October and November and also playing with the fado singer Mafalda Arnauth.
